Job Description

Perform setup and operation on assigned machines used in the production of the company’s product.  Work under the technical leadership of a Lead or other more skilled employee.  Receive periodic checks of work in process for compliance with job standards.

Essential Duties:

• Generate and maintain accurate production schedules for production areas.

• Report on shop floor activities and performance to schedule

• Coordinate emergency orders through the production areas

• Maintain shop order accuracy.  Work with the component shop to close shop orders in a timely manner and to insure the accuracy of the data on the order.

• Work with production and planning teams to resolve scheduling and performance issues.

• With consideration to internal capacity, load, and capabilities, outsource components to approved suppliers.

• Effectively communicate changes in schedules.

• Comply with, and assist in the enforcement of all company safety policies.

Education and Experience:

• HS Diploma/GED (College Degree preferred)

• Minimum 3-5 years of production planning experience with ERP/MRP systems and strong understanding of shop floor control activities

• Willing to aggressively pursue APICS CPIM Certification

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Track and facilitate production of deliverable units through all manufacturing areas. Ensure all deliverable products are completed on-time.

• Communicate problems quickly and to the appropriate contacts to ensure any issues slowing down or stopping production are resolved in a timely manner.  If issues cannot be resolved immediately, monitor progress and push to a resolution.

• Accurately update MRP (IFS) and Manufacturing Scheduling (WinMOPs) systems in a timely manner. Add production notes into WinMOPs daily so that any user can know the status of a deliverable line by COB each day.   

• Assist planning team with daily tasks.  Attend planning meetings as needed. 

• Comply with, and assist in the enforcement of all company safety policies.

• Maintain excellent communication and working relationship with all departments within the company.

• Creates new shop orders, tracks shop order material complete dates and releases shop orders for kitting.

• Aggressively tracks past due components and sub assembly shortages.

Education and Experience:

• A.S. Degree, Technical Certificate or APICS CPIM Certification a plus

• Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience preferred

Detailed Description

• Developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes
• Assists in the procurement and installation of equipment and all other duties as assigned.
• Works closely with production and engineering by communicating and facilitating recommendations and design changes as applicable.
• Designs fixtures and tooling; evaluates processes for increased through put and trouble shoots issues on products and processes.
• Perform any special assignment in or outside the Department when requested
• Determine problem resolutions and implement improvements.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Developing and implementing cost-saving measures and quality control systems.
• Ensuring manufacturing processes, and equipment meet capability and capacity requirements.
• Researching and developing new processes, new equipment, and new products introduction (NPI).
• Ensuring manufacturing processes, and equipment comply with safety standards
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure collaboration.

Education and Experience:

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering
• Minimum of 2 years hands on practical experience supporting and designing automated systems
• Minimum of 2 years hands on practical experience in a production and/or assembly environment 
• Excellent computer skills – particularly in programming and software development. Many aspects of the role of an Automation Engineer require the use of a computer
• Equipment troubleshooting skills – as you will often need to debug or troubleshoot an existing system
• Communication skills – will need to be able to explain novel and complex ideas to stakeholders of all levels and within multidisciplinary teams. Written communication skills will also be needed for record keeping and documentation.
• Problem-solving and creative thinking – will be required to troubleshoot problems as they arise and find effective solutions
• Flexibility & Adaptability – must be able to keep up with latest techniques and technologies as they develop
• Must have knowledge and experience in Lean and/or Six Sigma.
• Desired knowledge of Project Management, Risk Assessment, and Design of Experiments
