Summary:

Flowserve is looking for a Machine Operator (Deburr/Grind) at our manufacturing facility in Taneytown, MD. The individual will perform a variety of tasks within our Burr Balance department including precision tool grinding, the use of overhead jib cranes, ergonomics, and inspection equipment. Our Taneytown, MD Pump Manufacturing facility is over 150,000 square feet and provides capability for engineering, design, customer service, machining, assembly, and testing for a diverse product portfolio, which serves all markets (power, oil & gas, water resources, general industry, and chemical). The facility has expanded four times since opening in 1971 to accommodate revenue growth and product line developments. The entire project lifecycle is experienced all under the same roof.

Weekend shift (Friday, Saturday & Sunday 9:00am - 9:30 pm) - 10% shift differential

Responsibilities:

• Will read and document scales to verify parts are in conformance
• Will run and observe machine operation and verify quality of finished workpieces to specifications by means of self-inspections
• Utilize hand tools to deburr, cut, and polish parts
• Operate overhead and jib cranes to lift and move heavy parts
• Will be required to work in other areas of department when needed
• Move materials and parts to and from work areas via power lift trucks and fork trucks
• Will use hand tools, air tools, die grinders and hand drills
• Responsible for accurate completion of certification reports
• Adhere to all Safety Procedures & Policy. Complete all Pure Safety and other safety training as required.

Requirements:

• Ability to work in a team-oriented and CIP environment
• Ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions
• Basic shop math skills
• Able to stand for long periods, repetitive arm motions, frequent lifting with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work overtime as required
• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred:

• Previous experience in machining or similar field.
• Experience in using and interpreting precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, geometric tolerances, and finishes during the application of machining.
• Forklift certification

Role Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes involving machining, assembly, and testing. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, and production. Analyzes and improves quality, cost, and delivery by using Lean and Six Sigma tools. Provides engineering support in production departments by trouble shooting and resolving technical issues.

Responsibilities:

• Investigates project/capital equipment proposals, develops justification, prepares requests for expenditure, acquires equipment, installs equipment, and ensures that justification goals are achieved.

• Partners with Manufacturing Supervisors to achieve Flowserve goals and objectives.

• Specifies and acquires factory supplies that reduce costs and improve effectiveness.

• Ensures availability of CNC programs to support new products and customer requirements.

• Assists with training, instructing, and maintaining a flexible operator CNC programming and tooling skill base.

• Ensures tooling and fixtures are available to support customer demand.

• Troubleshoots processed and equipment minimizing delays in production schedules.

• Assists with development of the profit plan and the manufacturing strategic plan. Track assigned capital projects and expenditures status to ensure timely completion and within budget.

• Keeps abreast of new developments in the field of machine tool equipment, tooling, and methods. Recommend innovative solutions when applications are feasible to improve throughput and quality.

• Understands and supports all Company objectives and performs duties delegated by management.

• Enforces safety rules by ensuring that tooling, fixtures, and process meet all applicable OSHA regulations.

• Enforces Flowserve's environmental policies by ensuring that processes meet all applicable environmental regulations. Subcontractors are made aware of Flowserve's applicable environmental policies and are managed to these policies.

Experience / Skills:

• BS or BA Degree in relevant field and 3-5 years relevant experience

• Experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Proven track record of leading and driving cost reductions in a manufacturing environment utilizing Continuous Improvement Methodologies.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, engineering drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.

• Ability to write routine and technical correspondence.

• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

• Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced geometry, trigonometry, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

• Experience interpreting a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and dealing with several abstract and concrete variables.

Role Summary:

The Manufacturing Manager at the NA Pump QRCs is responsible for the day to day activities on the shop floor and direct management of the skilled labor team.  This role will work closely with the QRC Manager and the Master Scheduler to ensure that the right resources are in place to be able to meet production goals with a focus on quality and on-time performance.  The role will work closely with individual associates and team leads to develop training plans to aid in the growth and development of the operations team.  In addition, this role will be responsible for maintaining a work schedule for all associates on the team to ensure resources are available to meet customer needs.  The role will report directly to the site QRC Manager.  This position is located in the West Chicago facility.

Responsibilities Include:

• Responsible and accountable for the Pump Repair Shop operations
• Effectively lead and manage people resources as measured by safety performance, turnover, and employee development sponsorship
• Meet or exceed on-time performance
• Manage shop resources to meet labor hour budget
• Ensure all work is done efficiently following the direct and indirect guidelines
• Drive CIP culture throughout organization and meet cycle time reduction goals
• Attend and actively participate in pass gate meetings
• Work with Master Scheduler to manage order risks as well as Review and Approve routers release to the shop floor.
• Escalate parts, manpower, and capacity concerns that affect schedule to Master Scheduler and/or QRC Manager
• Review and ensure required documentation for job progress is complete
• Manage and improve COPQ, OTD, rework and scrap metrics
• Manage outsourced deliverables are on schedule, job packages are properly assembled, and scopes are clearly communicated
• Monitor capacity and initiate manufacturing outsourcing as required to meet deadlines
• Work with assigned Project Engineers, relaying job status and providing project timelines/schedules
• Participate and implement programs/procedures to improve processes, lead-time, production yields and delivery performance.
• Manage the customer experience by occasionally acting as a point of contact for orders.  Provide customer updates as requested
• Responsible for maintenance and repair of site equipment and grounds.

Qualifications:

• BS or BA Degree in relevant field OR 5-10 years relevant experience
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement processes are a must for the position.
• Strong leadership skills are necessary, especially the ability to influence across an organization and build high performing teams

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Previous manufacturing experience
• Heavy machining background and mechanical assembly.

Role Summary:
The Production Supervisor directs activities within the Disassembly and Assembly team as it relates to production, testing criteria, quality, safety & on time delivery. He/She must understand the mechanics of valves, proper disassembly and documentation, proper assembly, complex instrumentation, complete valve builds and troubleshooting. These highly motivated individuals ensure efficient high-quality production while promoting and working safely within established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
- Basic knowledge of CNC programming.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools (AMEF, VSM, 6's, SMED, etc).
- Statistical control of the process.
- Production planning in different work centers.
- Management of KPIs (utilization, efficiency, productivity, scrap, rework).
- Analysis for the solution of problems in lean manufacturing.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel.
