An independent Opticians based in Worthing, West Sussex are looking for a full time Optometrist to join the team.

This is an advanced practice that can offer a great deal of progression and development opportunities as they offer specialist services such as Dry Eye clinics, colorimetry and Ortho K. You will be working as the sole Optometrist so will take a clinical lead and help to ensure continues practice growth.

Optometrist - Role

• Deliver first class eye examinations, contact lens care and other eyecare services provided by the practice.
• 30-60 minute appointments
• OCT and Optomap available
• Treat each patient as an individual and afford them the best eyecare they can expect to receive as an individual and unique person.
• Listen, empathise and understand the unique needs and desires of each patient and ensure they receive the best eyecare possible - understand that everyone deserves the best.
• Carry out the required examination in an enthusiastic and caring manner.
• Explain each step of the examination so that the patient understands what is happening.
• Discuss fully the various ways we have to correct their vision or other eye or eye health related issues.
• Hand over every patient within the consulting room where possible, to the relevant colleague to take them on the next stage of their journey. If this is a referral ensure this is done and the patient understands how this will be done.
• Introduce all patients to the benefits of contact lenses and encourage them to experience lenses for themselves
• Carry out high quality contact lens fittings and aftercare
• Where appropriate refer the patient to a colleague for contact lens wear
• Ensure staff delivering support services (e.g. A&R for Contact Lenses) are properly trained and regularly updated on latest practices.
• Assist the Practice Manager to help develop the practice in a positive way, to deliver desired Customer Delight and Sales results.
• Fulfil your role in the efficient administration of practice affairs (e.g. NHS forms, record keeping)
• Participate and contribute in cross group discussions to improve the delivery of eyecare services across the group.

Optometrist - Requirements

• Fully qualified Optometrist registered with the GOC
• Excellent communications and organisational skills

You will provide on-going support to statutory partners and the Independent Scrutineer, with wider multi-agency impact, and will manage the Partnership Business Team. This high-profile role is essential in improving safeguarding arrangements and front-line inter-agency practice.

You will be pragmatic in your problem-solving decisions, make judgements based on analysis and principles, and tackle varyingly difficult situations of a technical, professional, or people related nature.

We need someone who is passionate about safeguarding children by providing a clear county wide understanding of best practice and experienced in working with partner agencies at a strategic level. You will be self-motivated and experienced in management or leadership, with the confidence to manage, oversee and advise on safeguarding with detailed understanding of statutory and relevant guidance, knowledge of policies and procedures and the ability to provide specialist advice and information to others.

The Highways Development Management team currently comprises of two team leaders who line manage a team of 14 staff who deal with approximately 3,000 planning applications a year plus pre-application advice.

As a Project Engineer, you will be part of the team providing detailed responses on planning applications as a statutory consultee. This willl require you to have contact with a variety of Local Planning Authorities (LPA) ensuring the relationship is a positive one and the responses to them are detailed and encompass all elements of transport and highway safe

You will also:

• prepare and issue comments, advice and recommendations relating to highway and transportation elements of planning applications; having regard to current design/transport guidelines.

• prepare and give evidence in connection with appeals and Court proceedings under the Town and Country Planning Acts.

You will need:

• to be a Chartered Civil Engineer or Incorporated Civil Engineer or a Graduate Civil Engineer with a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience or a HNC and a minimum of 7 years post qualification experience.
• experience relevant to planning applications and of S278 and S38 Agreements
• experience of working in partnership with internal and external bodies.
• experience of the operation of agreements for the adoption of new streets and construction of off-site improvement works.
• experience of participating in multi-disciplinary teams.
• ability to work to time and budgetary constraints.
• a full driving licence.

You will also be required to support other members of the team who may have less experience than yourself. On the job learning, coaching and mentoring is not unusual and is encouraged to create a positive can-do atmosphere within the team.
