The Head of Business Development will foster a culture of ambition, high-performance and impact within their team and cross college. On a day-to-day basis, you will take responsibly for the leadership, management, daily operation and ongoing development of the colleges' employer engagement team.
Working closely with a range of internal stakeholders, the post holder will ensure that employer engagement activity builds strong sustained customer relationships and seeks out new business opportunities to deliver income targets, work placements and meaningful stakeholder engagement.
The post holder will champion employers within the college and lead in the building of mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues across college and with key external partners.
The Head of Business Development will drive the college forward and ensure that all employers, students and curriculum teams receiving excellent service.
Hull College provides high-quality education & training for school leavers & adults, offering a wide range of vocational study programmes, Apprenticeships & degrees, and in October 2023 were awarded a ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted. Key Responsibilities of our Head of Business Development:
You will generate results in line with departmental targets and drive the team to constantly deliver growth and service improvements.
Lead individual and team targets in respect of a range of income streams including Apprenticeships, Adults Skills and Project funding.
Be accountable for the building of mutually beneficial relationships, partnerships and external opportunities with all college stakeholders and colleagues across the college.
Pro-actively contribute to the implementation and ongoing development of the colleges' employer engagement strategy including the development of employer engagement, sales and marketing plans and delivery of large employer events.
Support and develop work placement opportunities across the college with specific contribution to programmes where work experience is mandatory, including T-levels
Lead on engaging employers in the co-design and co-delivery of programme development to support and inform curriculum intent and implementation.
Working collaboratively with the wider leadership team in establishing and continually developing the colleges commercial provision by generating strong relationships and understanding around revenue streams including but not limited to, apprenticeships, high level technical qualifications, study programme, adult programmes and HE offer.
Be accountable for creating a culture of continuous improvement, which delivers agreed quality standards across all areas of the employer and student experience, ensuring that targets for learner recruitment, income, retention, achievement, and progression are challenging and achieved.
Regularly report progress of employer engagement activity & college stakeholder matters to the Executive, Senior Management Team Wider Leadership Team and Standards Committee.
Work collaboratively with Director colleagues to provide operational delivery of T Level Industry Placements, Study Programme Work Experience and HE Work Placements across college curriculum.
Champion the employer voice and lead on responding to and action planning feedback to further drive improvements in their experience.
What we’re looking for in our Head of Business Development:
Ability to think strategically and lead your team to grow business and provision in line with the colleges' strategic plan in a range of programmes.
Support the growth of project based and contract funding programmes, this will require a significant degree of collaboration and leadership across the college, as well as within your team.
Champion employers within the college and lead in the building of mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues across college and with key external partners.
Service partner relationships and large paying levy accounts.
Qualified to degree level or equivalent professional qualification or willing to work towards
Evidence of commitment to personal development and continuing improvement
Ability to work flexibly, including evening and weekend work
Ability to manage a range of tasks with priority
