Planner
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Planner to join our Power Transmission & Distribution business unit.
Role Profile: The Planner's responsibilities encompass thorough scheduling and tactical coordination to ensure the success of the project. Tasked with the creation and management of detailed construction project schedules, the Planner optimizes resource distribution and guarantees punctual project completion. The goal is to refine planning procedures, improve collaboration, and boost the overall productivity of construction projects.
Our projects extend throughout England and Wales; for this position, the ideal candidate will be located in the West Midlands or Yorkshire. It is an exciting time to become part of our expanding team.
Location: Yorkshire
Hybrid: onsite requirement 3 days a week.
- Ensuring that the programme content is functionally compliant with the planning procedures and guidance.
- Tender: Develop and agree by collaboration a logical sequence and methodology ensuring that the most efficient design, procurement & construction strategy is adopted for the delivery of the works.
- Produce and document planning deliverables, including programs, planning philosophy, presentations, and reports. Also, generate the Tender Programme and supporting information in accordance with tender requirements.
- Contract: At the contract stage, the Planner is responsible for producing, managing, and maintaining the Contract Programme in accordance with planning procedures under the guidance of the Planning/Project Lead.
- Displaying and evaluating the project critical path and advise the project team of the results and any appropriate corrective action.
- Producing and maintaining project baselines and execute the change control process as appropriate.
- Resource Management: Skilled in managing labour, equipment, and materials efficiently to meet project objectives while minimizing costs and delays.
- Data Analysis: Aid the planning team to produce project data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, identify deviations, and make data-driven decisions for project improvement.
- Previous experience in managing relationships with project stakeholders, demonstrating effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competent user of Primavera P6, as well as other project management tools and software to effectively communicate the plan.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction, including construction methodology, various phases, processes, and requirements, to facilitate effective project planning.
- Experience in demonstrating and managing Programme change, particularly in an NEC contract.
- Knowledge in project scheduling, including the ability to create, manage, and optimize project schedules using industry-standard tools.
- Experience in construction or other sectors with transferable skills that align with the demands of the construction field.
