South Lanarkshire Council is looking to recruit a positive and proactive Planning Manager to lead and direct the operations of an Area Planning Team. Working directly to the Head of Planning & Regulatory Services, candidates are sought who can demonstrate extensive experience in all aspects of Planning with a particular focus on Development Management.
The successful candidate will be joining an ambitious Planning Service which seeks to deliver quality developments across all communities in South Lanarkshire. As a manager within the Planning Service the candidate will also play a role in policy development and the implementation of the Planning Acts and relevant legislation.

Responsibilities
To ensure proper procedures, practices and guidelines are in place to ensure a consistent and high standard of services to all service users.
To set work and performance standards and targets for all activities under his/her direct management.
On a South Lanarkshire wide basis to take responsibility for managing/co- ordinating specific aspects of the Planning function as directed by the Head of Planning & Regulatory Services.
Manage the Planning Appeals process including preparation, leading and presenting the Council’s case of appeals, hearings, tribunals and public inquiries.
Manage the processing of Planning Applications, and other statutory applications, initiating Enforcement action to secure compliance with approvals and issuing decision notices on behalf of the Council.
To assist the Head of Planning & Regulatory Services in the preparation and presentation of reports, applications and other matters to Committees.
