What is the Role

You will be joining at an exciting time working on a number or critical infrastructure projects as we deliver our Net Zero targets. - Lead a team of Planning Engineers and undertake the planning of a portfolio of projects within Transmission which includes both producing and managing programmes.

- Implement technical expertise across the early project lifecycle where you will integrate your understanding of emerging industry methodologies to successfully manage the cross-discipline relationships within the engineering, project and network development functions.

- Liaise with stakeholders across business planning and development functions to ensure P6 programmes are deliverable, efficient and capable of effective reporting at a portfolio and project level prior to handover to Project delivery teams.

- Leadership, mentoring and management of the planning team. Implementation and monitoring earned value systems that accurately measure progress and performance. Provide reporting and feedback to project and business on project status / progress.

What do I need

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Experience of leading a planning team.

- Experience of planning on large scale, complex projects throughout the project lifecycle and ideally trained in NEC3 contract management with focus on planning requirements highly desirable.

- Prior experience of planning or implementing and effectively using company standard planning and scheduling systems i.e. Primavera P6.

- Demonstrable ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders

- A can-do attitude focused on contributing to a positive working environment

This role is predominantly office based with some travel between different SSE offices/project sites.

As Senior HR Partner aligned to Corporate Services, you and the team will contribute to the provision of a professional HR service to around 3,000 staff across a diverse range of departments and roles. You’ll plan and organise a range of HR activities over the departments you support. This includes developing HR plans and contributing to strategies which support the annual business planning over the medium to long term. Meridian Business Support are working in partnership with their reputable client on a Senior AV Installation Engineer position based in their Glasgow location.

We’re looking for a Senior Audio-Visual Installation Engineer to join our team. This is a chance for the right candidate to further their career in the growing audio-visual market as one of our trusted, senior members of the team. This is a hands-on role that would see the candidate working with our installation team on various sites and projects. Our ideal candidate would have:

- Experience in a similar level audio-visual role or be ready to step up from a more junior position
- Experience working on commercial premises and construction sites
- A positive “Can Do” Attitude.
- Be committed and self-motivated, with good organizational skills
- Ability to prioritise works to increase efficiency and reduce downtime

Reporting to the Service Manager day to day duties would include:

Essential Qualifications and Experience

- Full UK Driving License
- Minimum 3 years practical experience in any Audio-Visual Role
- Ability to install and commission modern video distribution and control systems
- A good understanding of audio and video signal flow, routing, and processing. In both the analogue and digital domain
- A good understanding of TCP/IP networks use in the AV industry
- Experience in using control protocols including RS232/485, IR and TCP/IP
- Experience in implementing modern ethernet based audio visual distribution methods (Dante, AVoIP)
- Experience in commercial tv distribution systems (traditional IRS and IPTV)
- Able to confidently terminate, test and troubleshoot the following connectors (VGA, BNC,F-type, RCA, XLR, 3.5/6.3mm Jack/RJ45)
- Able to correctly select appropriate cable types for the application at hand.
- Ability to interpret and work from plan drawings and schematics.
- Experience in the Layout and building of equipment racks
- Familiar with Digital signage systems and their topology (Onelan/Brightsign)
- Experience with lighting control technologies (DMX, ArtNet)

Locations/Hours

- This is a permanent full-time, field-based role.
- The standard working hours are 0800 to 1630 Monday to Friday. Regular overtime will be available including working on projects across the country.

SSE Thermal is home to SSE's Hydrogen Centre of Excellence - supporting all SSE's hydrogen projects, including SSE Renewables.

The Hydrogen Project Engineering team has a unique role to play within the Hydrogen Centre of Excellence. We ensure SSE is an informed developer and operator of hydrogen production, storage and thermal generation plant, and other technologies that will provide the flexibility the energy system requires as we transition to Net Zero.

The team provide the supervision and governance of engineering design contractors to ensure robust development of our projects, design risks are mitigated, and the project business case requirements are fulfilled.

Our current hydrogen projects include 'first of a kind' gigawatt scale blue and green hydrogen production facilities, hydrogen storage (including in salt caverns), hydrogen conversion to alternative hydrogen carriers and fuels, and hydrogen end use (predominantly in SSE Thermal gas turbines but also distribution to other users).

About the Role

Base Location: Leeds, Reading, Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen or Dublin

As a Senior Engineer within Thermal Engineering and Asset Management (TEAM), you will be responsible for leading project design delivery and execution activities on one or more of our challenging and exciting Hydrogen Thermal Large Capital Projects. You will develop and lead design development and execution strategies appropriate to the specific projects. You will ensure the effective coordination of internal and external engineering resources throughout the project.

- Lead the project engineering activities on large capital projects during development or construction phases to deliver Thermal Engineering & Asset Management's (TEAM) Design Authority role and responsibilities.

- Manage engineering design budgets within Large Capital Projects in excess of £1m per project.

- Report progress, risks and issues to the Design & Delivery Manager plus other relevant stakeholders.

- Develop and manage the Design Management Plan and ensure the design development or construction engineering strategy and activities are in compliance with corporate governance.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Experience in the design development and delivery of high value Thermal Generation projects, experience in the design of blue hydrogen or oil and gas projects would be advantageous.

- Chartered Engineer status via a relevant institution, and membership of Engineering Council.

- Ability to organise staff both within the project design development or construction engineering team and through an engineering matrix management structure to ensure delivery against project requirements and timescales.

- Excellent interpersonal skills with effective communication and reporting skills at all management levels and high pressure situations involved with project management environments.

- High organisational capabilities to deliver quality work to the agreed timescales.

- Understanding of the commercial context and implications of engineering activities and decisions.
