You will ideally have a background in Local Plans and be willing to provide leadership to the service to ensure the Local Plan makes effective progress. We want an individual who demonstrates a high level of drive and ambition and enjoys working with a diverse set of strategic planning matters. About the team:

The Member Services Team provides high quality administrative support to all Thurrock Councillors, enabling them to be effective within their roles in line with Thurrock Council priorities. This includes working with and supporting the Leader of Thurrock Council, Group Leaders, Deputy Leaders, Cabinet Members and the Mayor. The team consists of two Member Support Officers, a Cabinet Support Officer and the Leader's Office Manager, who all work closely to ensure the timely and first-rate delivery of any support requests from Members.

Main duties include:
- To deputise in responsibilities for the Leader's Office Manager to ensure an exemplary service is provided to the Deputy Leader, Cabinet and Elected Members.
- To provide a first rate executive support service under the direction of the Leader's Office Manager.
- To work collaboratively with colleagues, ensuring the highest standards of performance and reporting for the Elected Members.
- To assist in the preparation for, and attendance at, meetings, events and other engagements with, or on behalf of the Elected Members and the Mayor/Deputy Mayor.
- To effectively coordinate meetings as well as maintain forward plans.
- Assist in delivering inductions for new members and follow up actions for those not re-elected or resigning.
- Taking minutes at meetings as required, ensuring key points are recorded and actions followed up with the action owner.
- Effective diary management including travel arrangements.
- To work collaboratively with the wider Electoral Services Team to assist in the election process.
- Any other duties which could be reasonably expected of a post holder at this level and consistent with the job requirements.
The Member Support Officers are expected to be flexible and work in the office 3 days per week, with two days working from home. to allow for sufficient office cover.
Key experience and skills required:
- Able to use initiative and work pro-actively.
- A good sense of judgement, for example, in determining priorities and which issues should be brought to the attention of senior management.
- Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Highly organised in order to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills and proficiency in ICT.
- Tactful and discrete with the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.
- Understanding of Local Government and Public Sector priorities and sensitivities.
- At least three years experience of supporting senior management or elected representatives, with a record of measurable success.
- To behave in accordance with our values.
- Commitment to the principles of agile working, including the ability to work flexibly with regards to both hours of work and location, including remote and home working as required.
- Ability to travel within the Borough.
- Able to work flexible hours if required.
A DBS check is not required for this role.

Support Planner - OPCMHT

Thurrock Adult Social care are seeking an exceptional individual to join us as a Support Planner in our Older Persons Community Mental Health Team on a Permanent Full-time contract. This role is an interesting opportunity to work in a team that is committed to connecting individuals with their communities. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and good at communicating. The role will include working within a multidisciplinary team and working with other professionals in a range of organisations to develop a service that provides the best possible social care services and to meet the aspirations and outcomes of vulnerable old people as well as carrying out the statutory function of community care assessments, agreeing and implementing support plans and reviewing care provision.

As part of Older Persons Community Mental Health Team, you will be working in a way that ensures that the needs of Thurrock residents with dementia and other mental health issues are met in a timely manner and that appropriately supported through timely intervention as well ensuring that carers and families of Thurrock residents with dementia or other mental health issues are appropriately supported through timely intervention.
