We are working with a specialist contractor on a major new development near Andover. The company are a privately owned, profitable business who work solely across the South of England and believe in delivering quality, defect free schemes to clients.

They specialise in both new build and refurbishment of listed schemes and major re-modelling, extension and new builds in the high end, hi spec one-off residential market working for high net worth clients on schemes up to £120 million.

Initially your skills and experience are a major private development near Andover which includes the refurbishment and fit out an existing grade 1 manor house as well as major extensions and several new build schemes and extensions as well as an extensive ground-works, remodelling and earthworks package and you will be joining the delivery and commercial team to help them achieve completion and handover in 18 months time.

The wider role role includes early involvement at tender and bid stage, working with the estimating, design and commercial teams to establish specifications, phasing, strategy and then forming the initial construction programme. You will work to update and amend both the overall programme as well as individual programmes and phases for each package of works on site until the final bid/tender is submitted. You will then be responsible for managing the programme through to start on site with the delivery and be expected to regularly visit site, update both short and long term programmes, identify both opportunities to save time as well as look ahead to identify clashes and other issues on site, work with design team and supply chain to ensure work packages are released on time and all bespoke items and packages are let in good time and monitor progress to ensure key dates are met. You will continue to work with the commercial and design teams to evolve and adapt future bids and programmes for best practice.

You will ideally have worked for a regional contractor on schemes above £3 million and have experience of both D&B projects and framework negotiations, be able to demonstrate excellent work practices, attention to detail, organisational skills as well as the ability to identify opportunities and potential issues. You must be able to use software such as asta, 4 projects and have experience of working with BIM and BREEAM.

Project Engineer

Location: Andover

Work Week: 08:30-17:00 Monday-Thursday, 08:30-15:45 Friday

Rates: £25.64 per hour

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Engineer to join our Supply Chain team at our Andover site. This role involves providing first-line support to all areas of Supply Chain and Customer Services, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

The Role:

Process / Engineering / TPM: Provide first-line support to Supply Chain and Customer Services. Check and approve design and assembly drawings. Translate design information from drawings into SAP Material Master Data, Bills of Materials, and Routings. Prepare assembly instruction documents detailing the production process from design drawings and initial production builds. Lead the resolution of technical issues, material, tooling, and instructions in all Production and Warehouse areas. Review and support all NPI projects, providing updates and progress to the wider project team to ensure expected targets are met. Support the Reliability team with Facilities activities on-site, including issue resolution and updating site layouts/P&ID's (using AutoCAD or equivalent). Safety: Promote and lead by example on all aspects of safety. Risk assess and review safety in all SOPs, projects, and day-to-day support of the plant. Support the plant manager on safety projects and initiatives within the organisation.

Minimum Qualifications/Skills:

• At least 3 year's experience in a production, process, or industrial engineering function
• Knowledge of ERP systems, including BOMs, Routings, and Master Data
• In-depth knowledge of TPM / Lean principles and production process analysis (kaizen), preferably from a TPM / Lean embedded company
• Good understanding of NPI and gated processes
• Strong project management skills, with experience managing projects and teams across multiple disciplines
• Ability to compile shop floor process instructions and safe working procedures
• Ability to work independently and under own initiative
• High standard of numeracy and literacy
• Flexibility with working hours/shifts at short notice
• Effective data communication and presentation skills

Proficiencies:

• Essential: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, experience using ERP/MRP systems
• Preferred: SAP, DDM (Design Data Manager), eQMS, and AutoCAD
• Experience in CAPA and root cause analysis
• Eagerness to learn quickly and take on new skills and experiences

• Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards
• Extensive expertise in project delivery, with strategic, operational, technical, and management capabilities
• Familiarity with Construction Contracts, particularly NEC and/or IChemE, including negotiation and administration skills

Desirable:

The company operate in the framework markets on schemes ranging from £8 to £50 million in education, care, NHS and local authority schemes.

The role is to work with their preconstruction teams - estimators, bid managers and commercial teams on a range of tenders at 2nd stage. you will be looking at programmes for individual packages - verifying and checking feasibility for each, identifying pinch points as well as gains and advantages, reprogramming where possible and helping to produce an accurate forecast of costs and build times which will form the basis of the completed tender to be submitted to the client for approval and all planning works are completed on Asta.

Experience of commercial contracting and JCT forms of contract is essential and the role is office or site based and is inside scope of IR35 so day rates are negotiable.
