Transport Planner

Gregory Distribution is pleased to advertise the position of Transport Planner based at our busy client site in Avonmouth.
The position of Transport Planner involves:
- Planning and organising the activities of the Transport Operation, including deliveries and collections nationwide.
- Planning loads using a fleet of articulated vehicles.
- Ensure deliveries and collections are completed as per customer requirements whilst also monitoring KPI for delivery on time, shift revenue and vehicle utilisation.
- Managing and de-briefing drivers on a daily/weekly basis.
- Liaising with the warehouse and on site shunter to ensure that trailers and vehicles are available when required.
- Ensure vehicle checks and defects are completed and recorded via Vehicle Check App.
- Communicating collection times and delivery bookings with both internal and external customers.
- Meet on a regular basis with Line Managers to ensure that we are operating efficiently.
- Identifying and developing additional areas where we can add value to the contract.
- Ensuring that all contracted work is booked though our internal department and in line with customers' expectations.
- Meeting daily revenue KPI Targets and reporting to the Transport Manager on a weekly basis.
- Ensuring that all TMS systems relating to the contracted deliveries are updated and monitored.
- General administration duties to include, filing, photocopying and data input.
- Adherence to policies and procedures within the Business Area.
Essential skills required for Transport Planner:
- Previous experience of working within a similar role in the retail sector of the logistics industry would be advantageous but not necessary.
- Strong geographical knowledge required.
- Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Excellent organisational skills and prioritising workload.
- Attention to detail.
- Working to deadlines.
- Able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
- MS packages to include, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

- Salary for Transport Planner is between £33,000pa - £35,000pa, depending on experience.
- Hours of work are Monday to Friday, from 07:00hrs - 16:00hrs.
