The Store Operations project manager will work on large complex projects with high ROI to the organization. They will work with multiple, cross-functional teams to bring projects from planning to adoption. The project manager will have the responsibility to run projects on a day-to-day basis and delegate tasks to individual stakeholders.
The project manager must have considerable expertise to contribute to specialized operating model initiatives. They must also have management experience with project delivery that span across business units, allowing them to work and support a wide variety of areas.
Job Responsibilities:
This position supports delivery against all project and process management phases for assigned projects within Store Operations. This person will work closely with the Project Leader, and cross functional partners to ensure non-technology and technology-based deliverables are in alignment.
Project Planning and Execution:
Lead the end-to-end management of multiple initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time, on budget and within scope. Manage all tracking and weekly progress reporting for functional leads and senior management team Responsible for the timely and accurate tracking and progress reporting of project status including creation of regular project dashboards and tracking of project cost and resource usage.
Responsible for the creation and management of a detailed project plan for each assigned project.
Responsible for the collection, cataloguing, and maintenance of a variety of project documentation including requirements gathering, risk identification and mitigation, etc.
Monitors compliance and risk with project management and process management standards, policies, procedures, and templates.
Completes tasks within assigned project workstreams.
Manages project budget against plan, giving visibility to overages and underspent funds.
May facilitate and lead process improvement and process management activities.
Team and Stakeholder Management:
Responsible for identification of key stakeholders, communication and change needs and ensures appropriate stakeholder engagement for all levels of the organization throughout the project life cycle.
Provides pro-active advice and counsel to the program leaders and team members on best practice to ensure project success.
Support the development of project level (cross workstream) change management strategies, including training and communication, to build stakeholder awareness of new programs or initiatives that are upcoming and/or underway.
Responsible for understanding roles and responsibilities with all assigned project tasks to make recommendations and assignments.
Escalate risks and facilitates project teams in problem resolution, such as deviation from project plans.
Instills a culture of continuous improvement, quality, and productivity. Seeks opportunities to improve process and may facilitate process improvement projects.
Construct meeting updates and presentations, communicating topics in a simple, structured way, to keep teams informed and able to clearly make decisions.
Leads workstream meetings, updates to steering committees, Executive Leadership, etc.
Qualifications:
4-year or advanced degree in a relevant field.
Minimum of 5+ years of practical experience, including project management, consulting roles, store operations or other applicable retail industry experience. with a proven record of success within project and / or program management.
Progressive project management responsibilities: ability to complete both strategic and hands on tactical deliverables including time management, planning, and budgeting.
Proven track record of managing and delivering multiple large scale or complex projects within the constraints of scope, quality, time, and cost.
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills; ability to break down problems into fundamental parts, identify root causes, synthesize findings, and make informed decisions.
Excellent written, verbal, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills required, including proficient skills in PowerPoint presentation creation.
Relationship oriented, strong influencing and interpersonal skills; able to modify communication style to meet the needs of stakeholders.
Highly accountable, possess a “can-do” attitude and a strong, results orientation.
Thrives in a collaborative environment; flexible and open to ideas coming from all areas and levels of the organization, but also confident and decisive.
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
Prior experience in working with external vendors.
