Duties:
This position serves as the Security Assistant for Police Service within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) with a primary purpose to monitor physical security equipment and systems. Major duties and responsibilities include:

• Physical Security Support: monitors and responds to alarms; traces access patterns, programming, assigns or removes user permissions, and remotely opens and secures doors during routine and emergency operations; determines when to dispatch law enforcement or other personnel to investigate; maintains radio/alarm activity records/logs to include dates, times, and results of communications and activities; prepares completed reports; issues and retrieves government issued keys and/or identification cards; and maintains accountability of Police Officer badges issued and all associated logs.
• Communications: monitors and receives routine and emergency calls from a variety of sources that need police, fire, medical or other emergency services; maintains contact with law enforcement units; monitors and directs responses to security and life safety communications, radio dispatches, telephone calls, and other emergency communication circuits; coordinates with various federal, state and local law enforcement officials for coordination of emergency situations; and operates a variety of communications equipment, telephones and computer systems to support both routine and emergency operations.
• Operations Support: performs system checks on a variety of equipment used in the dispatch center; troubleshoots systems when problems arise and resolves issues whenever possible; conducts equipment inventories and completes records and other logs; enters, updates and retrieves information from a variety of computer systems/databases; uses state and the National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) to access sensitive law enforcement information to support field operations and investigations; enters or updates regional and national records; compiles and prepares reports related to events occurring in the operation of the police control center; completes vehicle registration tasks and issues decals and permits.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Trains and oversees junior graded Engineering Technicians on the processing of hydrographic and topographic survey data.
• Develops and updates project office specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assists the District’s Aircrew Training Program Manager (ATPM) in developing and updating required District products to meet evolving enterprise requirements.
• Works with engineering technicians, pilots, small craft operators, maintenance employees, and Safety and Occupational Health Specialists to develop Activity Hazard Analysis.
• Leads annual small craft inspections and develops plans and procedures to abate deficiencies annotated.
• Provides comprehensive management advisory and technical services within the Project Office’s area of responsibility.
• Is the primary Project Development Team (PDT) participant for the field operations office during development of projects from budgeting, pre-design, design, and through construction.
• Assists with scheduling dredge surveys, coordinates deliverables to assist the construction team with contract administration, and volume calculations, contractor survey interpretation, and SME reviews of survey equipment submittals.
• Responsible for Global Position System (GPS)on barges and work platforms as well as cranes, excavators, and other equipment engaged in navigation channel and structure maintenance and repair.
• Actively participates as the US Army Corps of Engineers representative, with other Federal, State, and local agencies, in responses to marine events in the Great Lakes shipping lanes.

• Serves as Seattle Principal Assistant District Counsel for Administrative Law, a senior attorney for the Seattle District in direct support of the District Counsel, furnishing expert legal advice, assistance, and services to the District Commander.
• Serves as ethics advisor, labor counselor, and advisor on administrative, personnel, and general law.
• Serves as advisor in the fields of environmental law, USACE Regulatory Program Law, the Corps of Engineers Civil Works program and its authorities; as well as contract formation and administration, including claims and appeals.
• Operates substantially independently in analyzing and evaluating facts, determining questions of law, and preparing decisions for consideration and adoption by agency decisionmakers in all mission areas.
• Provides legal support to senior Seattle District management officials in the execution of all mission areas.
• Supervises Assistant District Counsel within the Office of Counsel and assists the District Counsel in overall office management.
