About the Role

We are looking for an experienced litigator to join our busy Litigation team. The Litigation Team deals with civil and criminal litigation, licensing, employment and debt recovery.

Your caseload will predominantly consist of prosecutions and licensing; from initial instruction through to advocacy at Court, as well as a range of general litigation matters.

About you

The ideal candidate will have local government, prosecution and licensing experience. You must have the ability and willingness to assist on other areas covered by the team. It is essential that you have good interpersonal skills, are able to plan and organise your own workload with minimal supervision in a supportive environment. You must be able to work to tight court deadlines whilst fulfilling quality and service standards. You will be a strong team player, flexible, enthusiastic and committed.

You must be a qualified Solicitor / Barrister / Chartered Legal Executive.

You will undertake advocacy in Courts / Tribunals, attend meetings / committees, give advice to Senior Managers and officers and should have excellent drafting and negotiation skills.

The ideal candidate must be motivated and enthusiastic and be a pro-active team player who is able to work as part of a small but busy team; can react positively to changing priorities and is willing to embrace new technology and ways of working as well as possessing good interpersonal skills.

Local authority experience is preferable however Rochdale Council will consider private practice and public sector candidates.

The successful candidate will be part of a team which is based in an award winning office accommodation in the town centre which has undergone multi-million pound regeneration. Agile working is available, subject to business need.

You will be joining our Kernowflex (Bank) as cover for our security team, as such you will be one of our valued officers whose role will be to assist the Royal Cornwall Hospital provide excellent healthcare to our inpatients and outpatient while they are using our services.

During your assigned shifts - Your primary role will be to police our hospital entrances during night-time periods to ensure we maintain a secure hospital environment 24/7. You will also be available to provide support, help and guidance to our patients and visitors to ensure that their time with us is a safe and trouble-free experience. Working closely with medical and nursing staff you will be part of the team who will help them to enjoy their working experience by always being available to provide support and protection to them when they are called on to work with patients who become troublesome or demanding due to their medical condition. You will possess an approachable manner and be courteous and knowledgeable when communicating with hospital users. Decision making will be one of your strengths when called to attend and provide support with difficult situations which can either be intentional acts by volatile individuals or problems caused by clinically related challenging behavior. You will need to have excellent communication skills both verbal and written and be able to demonstrate a reasonable level of IT literacy.

As a Kernowflex (Bank) Security Officer, you will provide a wide range of duties which will require a customer focused approach. Predominantly your duties will be to police our hospital and to provide a timely response to support patients, visitors, members of the public and hospital staff across a broad range of issues. To support you in carrying out these duties each officer will be expected to successfully attend the Physical Intervention Training qualification course. You may also undertake the normal wide range of general security tasks which will include (but not be limited to) high profile guarding and patrol duties, key holding, locking and unlock procedures, responding to and managing incidents including potentially volatile situations. Your duties will require you to hold a current, clean full UK driving license and hold a current SIA license and/or be willing to work towards achieving a Healthcare Security Officer’s qualification. This post will also require a DBS check. You will receive a full range of induction and training into the Trust and your work.

Our existing shift pattern is 07:00 to 19:00hrs or 19:00hrs to 07:00hrs but as a Kernowflex (Bank) Security Officer you may also be offered part shifts throughout this shift pattern

The Role: This is a full-time fixed term post with a salary of £,30,639. Please note that this is a training contract starting the beginning of September 2024.
