An exciting new in house role has arisen for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our energy and utilities client as a strategic member of their in-house legal function in South Wales & the Southwest. This role will be a wide-ranging role supporting the General Counsel by providing a broad range of commercial advice to senior stakeholders across the business. You must be able to travel to their offices in Newport, however you will also be able to work flexibly from home for part of the week if desired.

Your new role
You will join this close-knit legal team in a senior role providing timely commercial advice to stakeholders from across the main functions of the business, including Procurement, Regulation, Health and Safety, Net Zero, HR and critically Infrastructure, Estates and Operations. Your broad new role will give you the opportunity to be involved in everything from drafting and negotiating Construction Contracts and Commercial Agreements, to providing strategic and commercially sensitive advice on Data Protection, Procurement Regulations, Commercial Disputes and Property Disputes.

Providing legal support to the business, you will have the opportunity to influence the business at a senior level and provide robust advice and guidance on risk management as well as regulatory obligations for operators in the utility and energy sectors.

What you'll need to succeed
Our client is looking for an experienced Commercial, Projects or Construction Lawyer with experience gained either in-house, or at a high quality national or regional law firm with exposure to advising clients in the utilities and energy sectors. You will be a strong technical lawyer with broad experience across the energy and utilities sectors.

As a Civil Engineer for Mott MacDonald Bentley you will be working in a creative and challenging environment, delivering a wide range of projects across our Welsh Water framework. Responsible for the delivery of efficient and sustainable solutions, you will work within a multi-disciplinary project team in the delivery of water and wastewater treatment solutions from inception through to completion of construction.

Candidate Specification :

- Degree in Civil Engineering (or directly related subject)
- Professionally qualified as IEng / CEng with the ICE or similar Institution
- UK water and/or wastewater infrastructure experience

Your new company:

A leading utilities organisation in Wales are currently looking for a Security Resilience Manager to come in and manage the security resilience team, overseeing and managing protective security measures to safeguard data, information assets and critical systems.

The role responsibilities:

You will be managing the Cyber Resilience team and the day-to-day operational management of the cyber security function.

• Develop and execute a strategic vision for protective security aligned with the cyber security strategy.
• Maintain compliance with legislation, sector-specific regulations and industry standards.
• Develop and maintain incident response plans specific to protective security-related incidents.
• Collaborate with the physical security team to integrate protective security measures within physical security controls.
• Ensure that security initiatives align with the UK regulatory environment and with relevant industry standards

You will need:

You will need to be able to influence and collaborate with other teams in the organisation, and have the ability to build strong internal relationships with other members in the business. You will have worked in similar roles and have a strong knowledge of Cyber and SOC processes, as well as the different compliance frameworks associated with the utilities world.

• Significant cyber security experience, ideally some of which has been spent in Critical National Infrastructure environments.
• Proven experience in leadership roles within systems security, security operations, identity management and infrastructure and data protection within a cyber security environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Working knowledge and experience of cyber risk management standards, including IEC62443.
• Experience of matrix management in a complex and dynamic operating environment.

This role is available for hybrid or remote work. Although the contract won't state fully remote, I have been assured that the cyber team are able to work remotely, other than the occasional on-site meeting or catch up.
