As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Provide exceptional customer service, welcoming and guiding court users.
• Monitoring premises and visitors via CCTV and x-ray machines, together with other security checks such as using hand-held metal detectors on court users and bag searches on arrival.
• Patrolling and securing access to buildings and satellite buildings, keeping in contact with the control room with the use of hand-held radios.
• Responding to panic alarm buttons in Judges' rooms, courts and offices.
• Responding to any security issues within the complex and recording and reporting details of those incidents

This Lead Transportation Security Officer position is located at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport (CLT), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Lead Transportation Security Officer (LTSO), you will be responsible for leading at least three full-performance level Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) and, as assigned, trainee and apprentice level TSOs. As an LTSO, you will identify, distribute, and balance workloads and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow and skill level. You will make adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Providing input to supervisors and managers concerning a variety of human resources matters including, but not limited to, employee performance, promotions, reassignments, awards, etc.
• Implementing security screening procedures in accordance with TSA objectives and directives.
• Assisting with investigations of incidents, and preparing incident reports or other documents that convey required information.
• Responding to breaches of security and emergency situations.
• Training team members, monitoring and reporting on the status and progress of work, and representing the team in communications with the supervisor or manager for the purpose of obtaining resources (e.g., computer hardware and software, etc.).

Major Duties:
Physical Security Support: Performs alarm and access monitoring, tracing access patterns, programming, assigning or removing user permissions, updating databases, remotely opening and securing doors during routine and emergency operations and generating a variety of reports as needed. Assesses on-scene behavior and determines when it is appropriate to dispatch law enforcement or other personnel to investigate. Responsible for responding to alarm systems monitoring fire, access, intrusion, duress/panic, medical emergencies, psychiatric emergencies, medical assist teams, etc.; and emergency digital paging system. Monitors emergency weather alerts and transmits warnings system wide when appropriate. Maintains radio/alarm activity records/logs to include dates, times, and results of communications and activities and prepares completed reports. Performs and documents emergency callbacks when necessary. Tracks critical information and reports findings to the supervisor. Implements policies, procedures, and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material. Operates an established vehicle registration and visitor management program and parking registration and/or photo identification equipment. Issues and retrieves government issued keys and/or identification cards. Reviews requests for and issues passes and identification documents.

Communications (Dispatcher): The position monitors and receives routine and emergency calls from a variety of sources that need police, fire, medical or other emergency services. Determines the nature and location of the emergency; prioritizes events and commits police resources appropriately; determines what notifications are necessary based upon event type, makes such notifications and coordinates follow-up communications. Receives and process emergency calls, maintains contact with law enforcement units on assignment, maintains status and location of Police Officers and coordinates communication between agencies as needed. Answers non emergency calls for assistance. Monitors and directs responses to security and life safety communications, radio dispatches, telephone calls, and other emergency communication circuits. Receives and compiles information from various sources related to police and emergency incidents, taking appropriate actions regarding intrusion, duress, and hold-up alarms. Directs response and/or modifies responsible personnel depending on the type of incident or request. Coordinates with various federal, state and local law enforcement officials for coordination of emergency situations. Responsible for the orderly flow of communications between the police dispatch center, agency leadership and the work force. Operates a variety of communications, computer and security equipment to support both routine and emergency operations.

Operations Support: Performs system checks on a variety of equipment used in the dispatch center. Troubleshoots systems when problems arise and resolves issues whenever possible. Conducts equipment inventories and completes records and other logs. Performs monthly alarm checks, submits reports documenting the operational status of each circuit tested. Initiates work orders for malfunctioning circuits and equipment. Enters, updates and retrieves information from a variety of computer systems and sensitive databases. Uses state and the National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) to access sensitive law enforcement information to support field operations and investigations. Queries for items such as criminal histories, arrest warrants, drivers record, vehicle registration, stolen property, firearms, etc. Enters or updates regional and national records and/or messages to support recovery of stolen property or missing/endangered persons. Gathers and relays applicable information to law enforcement personnel in the field. Uses the VA Police Software to research information, complete reports and logs, vehicle registrations, etc. Compiles and prepares reports related to events occurring in the operation of the police control center for dissemination of the completed products to various management officials. Generates police reports for routine, non-criminal cases such as: lost property, missing patients, etc. Processes Courtesy Violations Notices (CVN) and US District Court Violation Notices (USDCVN) in accordance with established policies. Accomplishes special projects and other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Full-time rotating 12-hr shifts including nights and weekends.

This Transportation Security Inspector position is located in Charlotte/Douglas International Airport (CLT), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Transportation Security Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring security compliance of persons and transportation systems and entities regulated under the Title 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 1500 series. You will perform selected assignments and progressively responsible inspection work such as:

• Conducting less complex inspections or portions of more complex inspections.
• Applying basic technical inspection knowledge acquired in formal core training and on-the-job training (OJT), along with any limited experience gained prior to or after such training.
• Conducting regulatory inspections and investigations, and supporting criminal investigations related to alleged or suspected security violations.
• Responding to security incidents, threats, violations, or potential violations.
• Providing overt and covert presence, including high visibility activities, to detect and reduce identified security threats and vulnerabilities.
• Participating in covert and overt test and audits, as well as vulnerability assessments.
• Reviewing and analyzing assessment reports and testing results with specific attention to identifying unusual trends or actions that appear to have the potential for developing a security or safety problem.
