Salary Information: The salary range for Sault Ste Marie, MI (CIU - Chippewa County International Airport) is $44,795 to $55,231 or $21.46 to $26.46 per hour and includes locality pay of 16.82%.

Sign-on Bonus: The Transportation Security Administration is offering a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 for this location; paid out in two installments during the first 12 months of service. This Transportation Security Officer position is located in Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Transportation Security Officer (TSOs) within Security Operations (SO), you will provide security and protection of air travelers, airports and aircraft in a courteous and professional manner. Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Operating various screening equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo and on passengers, and preventing those objects from being transported onto aircraft.
• Performing searches and screening, which may include physical interaction with passengers (e.g., pat-downs, search of property, etc.), conducting bag searches and lifting/carrying bags, bins, and property weighing up to 50lbs.
• Controlling terminal entry and exit points.
• Interacting with the public, giving directions and responding to inquiries.

This Lead Transportation Security Officer position is located at Marquette Sawyer International (SAW), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Lead Transportation Security Officer (LTSO), you will be responsible for leading at least three full-performance level Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) and, as assigned, trainee and apprentice level TSOs. As an LTSO, you will identify, distribute, and balance workloads and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow and skill level. You will make adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Providing input to supervisors and managers concerning a variety of human resources matters including, but not limited to, employee performance, promotions, reassignments, awards, etc.
• Implementing security screening procedures in accordance with TSA objectives and directives.
• Assisting with investigations of incidents, and preparing incident reports or other documents that convey required information.
• Responding to breaches of security and emergency situations.
• Training team members, monitoring and reporting on the status and progress of work, and representing the team in communications with the supervisor or manager for the purpose of obtaining resources (e.g., computer hardware and software, etc.).

Responsible for providing technical guidance in Personnel Security, Suitability, and Investigation Program for the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP).

Directs and coordinates investigations of applicants, employees, and contractors who are seeking or are employed in sensitive positions within the BOP.

Determine the adequacy and completeness of investigations; and evaluate the authenticity and pertinence of information to the case under adjudication.

Communicates directly with BOP employees at all levels to answer routine questions regarding the basic personnel security program.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated National Security Clearance at all times. Failure to obtain/maintain this clearance may results in the person being selected being reassigned to their former position or a position similar to the position they held prior to selection.

• Directs subordinate Police Officers engaged in law enforcement responsibilities;

• Writes uniform offense reports covering incidents that contain pertinent information, which is factual, classified properly, and submits reports timely;
• Identifies and reacts to overcome life threatening situations such as natural or manmade disasters, hostage, barrier, terrorist attack, kidnap, or felony assault;
• Conducts long and short-term investigations;
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

• Physical Security Support: monitors and responds to alarms; traces access patterns, programming, assigns or removes user permissions, and remotely opens and secures doors during routine and emergency operations; determines when to dispatch law enforcement or other personnel to investigate; maintains radio/alarm activity records/logs to include dates, times, and results of communications and activities; prepares completed reports; issues and retrieves government issued keys and/or identification cards; and maintains accountability of Police Officer badges issued and all associated logs.
• Communications: monitors and receives routine and emergency calls from a variety of sources that need police, fire, medical or other emergency services; maintains contact with law enforcement units; monitors and directs responses to security and life safety communications, radio dispatches, telephone calls, and other emergency communication circuits; coordinates with various federal, state and local law enforcement officials for coordination of emergency situations; and operates a variety of communications equipment, telephones and computer systems to support both routine and emergency operations.
• Operations Support: performs system checks on a variety of equipment used in the dispatch center; troubleshoots systems when problems arise and resolves issues whenever possible; conducts equipment inventories and completes records and other logs; enters, updates and retrieves information from a variety of computer systems/databases; uses state and the National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) to access sensitive law enforcement information to support field operations and investigations; enters or updates regional and national records; compiles and prepares reports related to events occurring in the operation of the police control center; completes vehicle registration tasks and issues decals and permits.

This Supervisory Transportation Security Officer position is located at Gerald R Ford International (GRR), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Supervisory Transportation Security Officer (STSO), you will be responsible for mitigating actual and potential threats against civil aviation and other transportation modes. You will also perform and supervise in your area of specialty, which may include Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) and Lead Transportation Security Officers (LTSOs) in the performance of all security functions related to the screening of people, property, and cargo through the use and application of procedures, techniques, and technology. In addition, you will make independent, security-based decisions using intelligence, critical thinking, experience, observation, and passenger engagement. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting and supervising subordinate employees in conducting pre-board security screening of persons, their carry-on and checked baggage/cargo.
• Overseeing screening checkpoint(s) and/or baggage screening operations on a day-to-day basis to include equipment, personnel, and the scheduling and rotation of personnel.

A Sewerline Video Inspection Technician leads subordinate workers in the inspection of sewerlines for leaks, breaks, clogs and damage using video inspection equipment. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties.

Incumbents receive minimal supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek and may be required to work some evening and weekend hours or held over until properly relieved or for emergencies. Work is performed outdoors where incumbents are exposed to such conditions as odors, inclement weather and traffic. Work requires moderate physical exertion.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

A Utilities Installer and Repairer Supervisor I oversees and participates in the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of water mains, service pipes, fire hydrants, water meters, main extensions, sanitary house connections, manholes, waste water pipes, mains, storm drains and related appurtenances of the water distribution and waste water collection systems. Work of this class involves supervising utility maintenance, equipment operation and laboring personnel.

Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a five day workweek including evenings, weekends and holidays on a rotating basis, and are subject to 24-hour call-back on a rotating basis and as required for emergencies or held over until properly relieved or for emergencies. Work is performed outdoors where incumbents are exposed to inclement weather and traffic. Work requires strenuous physical exertion including frequent bending, stooping, crawling, reaching and pushing and pulling of heavy objects.

All employees may be required to obtain within six months of hire, and maintain, a certificate indicating that they have successfully completed the Temporary Traffic Control Manager’s training course in accordance with the specifications of the Maryland State Highway Administration of the Department of Transportation.

Employees hired or promoted into this classification after March 1, 2015, will be required as a condition of employment:

· To apply within 30 days to obtain a temporary State of Maryland Wastewater Collection Class C2 or Water Distribution Class D1 Certifications as issued by the State of Maryland Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators. Proof of temporary licenses must be submitted to the supervisor and Human Resources within six months of hire.

· To obtain and maintain Permanent State of Maryland Wastewater Collection Class C2 or Water Distribution Class D1 Certifications issued by the State of Maryland Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators within three years from the date of hire/promotion.

· Failure to obtain or maintain certifications may result in demotion or termination of employment.

NOTE: Effective March 1, 2015, , employees hired into this classification prior to March 1, 2015, must obtain and maintain temporary or permanent Wastewater Collection Class C2 or Water Distribution Class D1 certifications issued by the State of Maryland Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators as a condition of continued employment in this classification. Those employees with a temporary certification issued by the State of Maryland Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operations must obtain a permanent certification within six years of having obtained their temporary certification.
