Department Manager – Civil, Structural, and Architectural
Job Description
Responsible for supervising and managing civil engineering, structural engineering, and the architectural department within KBR’s Integrated Solutions business. Conducts various aspects of performance management such as performance appraisal or counseling of employees with behavior or technical performance problems and assists in the interviewing, hiring, and assignment of new personnel in the discipline.
Functional Job Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Review and approval of nonstandard execution methods.
- Innovative ways to deliver to client’s needs and expectations.
- Develop and maintain an overall department budget.
- Provide guidance and technical oversight on projects while driving KBR’s quality initiatives and standards.
- Establish succession planning and mentorship throughout the group.
- Responsible for all personnel decisions across the civil/structural/architectural team.
- Aid in sales and proposal pursuits including development of work hour estimates required to properly execute a given scope of work.
Job Qualifications:
- Skills are typical acquired through an undergraduate degree in Engineering and a minimum of ten (10) years related experience, with an average experience of twenty (20) years.
- Certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer (preferred) this level is often referred to as chief engineer.
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing project challenges.
- Attention to detail and the ability to ensure project documentation is accurate and up to date.
- An individual at this level may be an individual researcher or consultant who is recognized as a national and /or international authority and leader in an area of engineering or scientific interest and investigation.
- Individuals are characterized by their demonstrated ability to conceive of and develop creative/innovative technology critical to the company's success.
