An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Public Health Commissioning and Contract Manager to join the Public Health Directorate in the East Region. The post holder will join a team responsible for commissioning and contracting Public Health Section 7a services, including national immunisation programmes, national cancer and non-cancer screening programmes, and Child Health Information Services (CHIS). The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, working in a busy, fast-paced, and varied role that requires a flexible, proactive approach and excellent organisational skills. The ability to work accurately while multitasking is essential.

Applicants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally, and the ability to work with clinical, managerial, and support staff at all levels. Experience in managing projects such as procurements and service mobilisation, along with a good understanding of the NHS Standard Contract, is essential.

Candidates should also be capable of negotiating and challenging senior stakeholders on difficult issues, planning for short, medium, and long-term objectives, and working to tight and changing timescales. The successful candidate will join a friendly, approachable, and passionate team and will be supported in their own development

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering effective services by supporting managers and staff to:
• Lead the programme management of projects delivering public health commissioning outcomes for NHS England.
• Develop effective working relationships across NHS England and with other key stakeholders to ensure commissioned services are effective and meet KPIs and governance requirements.
• Interpret and implement complex national guidance and develop associated policies and guidelines as necessary.
• Contribute to the development of service specifications and the redesign of care pathways to ensure services provide quality and value for money.

We are seeking a Security Manager to lead the management and development of the Security Service. The friendly team is vital in keeping students, staff, visitors and our buildings safe and providing a welcoming and supportive environment. You will be key in the development and implementation of a security strategy to establish a safe and secure environment in which the university community can thrive. This includes the main city centre campus as well as other University sites within a 5-mile radius.

Experienced in security management at a senior level within a relevant, complex organisation you will demonstrate the ability to work both at strategic and operational levels using your knowledge of current security related legislation and practice. You will provide intelligence–led information on risks and threats to aid decision-making.

Essential skills include leadership and teambuilding and as you will be working with colleagues across the University you will have effective communication and interpersonal skills. A good understanding of issues facing security in higher education will be expected.

A relevant professional qualification or knowledge gained via substantial vocational experience in security leadership is essential. Specialist knowledge of a range of security systems such as CCTV, communication, intruder alarms along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft word/excel/PowerPoint/outlook and databases. Knowledge of Health, Safety and Security legislation and experience of risk management is essential. As the Departmental Safety Co-ordinator a NEBOSH Health and Safety qualification or willingness to achieve on appointment is also a requirement.

A current full driving licence (manual transmission) is essential as you will be driving University of Plymouth vehicles. This role is also subject to health surveillance with our Occupational Health team.

This is a full-time, permanent position and whilst you will generally work a 37-hour week, Monday to Friday, you will be required to undertake duties outside these times and be flexible to meet the demands of the role. You must be able to attend campus at times which include evenings and weekends, to deal with emergencies or provide cover. As the security team works 24/7 you will need to work some out of hours shifts to understand requirements and to manage service performance.

Due to the nature of the work, this role is based on campus. There can be a requirement in certain instances to attend work to resolve/manage issues; therefore, the post holder must live within reasonable travelling distance of the University.

The appointment will require an enhanced DBS check, in line with CSAS accreditation.
