Your new role
As a Senior Engineer you will be working closely with a Principal Engineer and Civil Engineering graduate as well as the Structural Engineering team. You will be in part responsible for conceptual and detailed design through various RIBA stages and overall project delivery with the support of the surrounding team on an increasing variety of projects across the commercial, residential, education, ministry of justice and industrial sectors.
As you progress, more informed commercial awareness and client relationship management will be important elements to the role.
As your civil design team further grows, mentoring and checking the work of fellow engineers and technicians will be key.

What you'll need to succeed

• A minimum of a BEng in Civil Engineering and 7+ years' UK design consultancy experience.
• Conversance with AutoCAD, Civil3D/PDS, Info/Microdrainage is a requirement, although there will be scope to improve your skills with them.
• Experience with Section Agreements 278, 38, 104 and 185.
• Hands-on approach, with a desire to remain engaged in design, project management and delivery.
• Good organisation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Chatership isn't a requirement however being on the pathway to CEng is desirable

Job Description

As the Senior Civil & Structural Engineer your primary responsibility is to lead the delivery of a wide range of Civil & Structural services in both Temporary and Permanent Works. You will oversee the design of Permanent Works for buildings, highways, housing, and infrastructure, as well as Temporary Works design, both above and below ground. Your role will also involve the production of intelligent BIM models to support tender schemes and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of Civil & Structural services in both Temporary and Permanent Works.
• Produce intelligent BIM models to support tender schemes and project delivery.
• Provide design management advice and coordination for bid-winning and project delivery.
• Review and assess third-party designs to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Resolve technical project, construction, and design issues, offering incident investigation, analysis, review, advice, and redesign.
• Lead the development of Group-wide technical standards and design processes.
• Conduct site visits, surveys, and inspections to report and advise on SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) issues.

Minimum Requirements

• Technician or Incorporated member of a relevant professional institution (e.g., EngTech MICE, IEng MICE, etc.).
• Five years of relevant postgraduate experience.
• Full driving license.
• Valid CSCS card.

Your new role
Your new role will see you joining the existing civil engineering team of 12 as a Senior Civil Engineer. Preparing drainage and highway designs in accordance with relevant design codes and best practice SuDS Design principles will be a daily responsibility. Carrying out the production of infrastructure design to influence and develop master planning using your existing knowledge will also be also an element of your new role.


You will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of graduate engineers and technicians, checking their designs and drawings and aiding their continued development. Depending on your level of progress, the opportunities to further your career and progress to Principal Engineer are absolutely available and with the regular support of Directors your expertise will skyrocket.


What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed you will require a minimum of around 7 relevant years of industry experience in the UK, demonstrating regular contribution to the design of local highways and drainage infrastructure. Though not essential, it is highly desirable that you will be a Chartered Member of either the ICE or IStructE, and as a minimum requirement are on the path to gaining these professional qualifications.


Design software experience with AutoCAD, Microdrainage/Infodrainage, Civils 3D/PDS are all highly desirable and will be needed to succeed.


What you'll get in return
In return you will receive a competitive salary, in line with your market experience in the range of £45,000 - £55,000. On top of this, you will receive two annual bonuses; one in Summer and the other over the Christmas period to reward your dedication throughout the year, totalling into the £1,000's.
