We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Highways Civil Engineer with experience of pavement and road drainage design, use of Civils 3D software to produce Highway plans, who has managed and delivered projects from concept design through to construction.

As the Highways Civil Engineer you will provide design and project management services to support strategic programmes and activities within the Capitals team.

Working as the Highways Civil Engineer you will be responsible for managing projects in accordance with the organisation’s change framework, across the portfolio of projects for the services.

Working independently and proactively you will lead on the delivery of the key objectives, managing stakeholders, and delivering high quality outputs and outcomes under little supervision.


DUTIES

Your duties as the Highways Civil Engineer will include:

• Technical design to relevant UK standards (DMRB, Manual for streets) as well as producing high standard professional written technical reports

• Liaising and maintaining a good relationship with internal and external clients answering queries and responding to technical issues, provide support, and ensure that successful outcomes are delivered, which add improvement to services, customer outcomes, and savings

• Identify key outputs and milestones for decision. To report to the appropriate governance forums, track and monitor actions. Adherence to WBC and supplier processes. Stakeholder Management

• Liaising and managing surveyors, consultants, contractors and other collaborators

• Record and track costs and benefits of projects and create learning logs to be referred to with each new project. Manage risks and issues in line with Corporate Risk management policy

• Pre-empt problems and resolve quickly to protect projects. Work with all parties in a collaborative manner and make decisions to ensure projects and tasks are on time and budget


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject

• Experience in efficiently using Civils 3D software to produce Highway plans

• Sound working knowledge of relevant national and international highway related standards (e.g. DMRB, SHW, Traffic Signs Manual, Manual for Streets), contracts (e.g. ICE, NEC, and FIDIC), methodologies and procedures

• Experience of managing and delivering projects from concept design through to construction

• Pavement design experience and Road drainage design experience

This is a new role which has been created to provide targeted and expert support to their secretarial population, who would benefit from greater support around training, development and performance. There will also be an element of resource management across all teams and offices.


The Secretarial Manager will be responsible for line managing all Secretaries in London and Reading, with the exception of the Executive Assistant to the CEO and COO.

Responsibility for other administrative roles such as the Receptionist and Office Coordinator will not fall under the Secretarial Manager's remit. The Secretarial Manager will report to the Head of Administration.
Initially, the Secretarial Manager role will not be exclusive of secretarial responsibilities. As the role and firm grows, we expect secretarial responsibilities to decrease, but this will be a matter for discussion and agreement between the Secretarial Manager and Head of Administration.


The company headcount is currently 89 (expected to increase to 92 in September 2024), with 11 secretaries, 2 of whom are based in Reading. As this role will manage secretaries across both offices, travel to the Reading office will be required at least once a month. This may increase with time, depending on the size of the team in Reading.
The Secretarial Manager's main role includes, but is not limited to:

• Secretarial:
• Working for up to four fee earners on a daily basis with additional fee earners visiting on a regular basis on a mix of workplace law
• Monthly billing (producing and amending billing guides, transferring time as required, creating invoices and sending to accounts for adding to billing system)
• General typing - audio (limited) and copy typing (letters, emails, witness statements, attendance notes etc.)

Your new role
This is exciting opportunity to either pivot into cyber from a Network Engineer role, or it is a chance for an existing Security Engineer to focus on OT Security. You will be working for a global organisation, on one of their client sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, maintenance, and patching of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure for Microsoft Windows and UNIX based platform. The Junior OT Security Engineer will ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures comply with internal and external standards and security requirements. Some of the key responsibilities for the role are below:

• Engineering of solutions for various project and operational needs.
• Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
• Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.
• Perform system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
• Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
• Support daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.

• Supported by Regional OT Cybersecurity Sensei (Regional OT CS Expert)
• Provide site support in the following areas
• OT Network and Cybersecurity Support (including cybersecurity risk guidance - "Archer")
• Assistance in adding/changing/modifying OT Systems (Servers, Devices, etc) - Moving/Adding/Changing/Deleting
• Guidance in provisioning, patching and upgrading systems (PLCs, Servers, OT Workstations)
• System Architecture Support (IP, segmentation, etc)
• Assist in maintaining site asset lists and network architecture diagrams
• Manage Claroty x-Dome implementation and ServiceNOW OT Assets

LIASE with Central Team to streamline workflows, shorten resolution time and simplify processes
The following items include:

• Claroty
• Crowdstrike
• Network changes (OBS)
• Firewall Changes (Accenture)
• Provisioning (Central Team)

What you\'ll need to succeed
You will need strong engineering experience, within a manufacturing, automotive, or production environment. You will also need the following:

• Ability to multitask and prioritise work across multiple projects providing effective solutions to complex technical challenges.
• Knowledge, and experience with ISA / IEC 62443.
• Knowledge of system security within an OT environment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and UNIX based platforms.
• 1-2 years of experience in system administration/security/engineering.
• Good communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders. You will be representing a client, on their customers site. So good communication skills are necessary.

You will be working for a global organisation, initially on a contract basis, but with a possibility of turning into a permanent role, depending on the success of the project. You'll initially be looking at £400-£450 per day, with the possibility of gaining additional certificates whilst in role.

About The Role
We have a vacancy for a Security Officer to join our team. You will be responsible for protecting the security and safety of the identified buildings and personnel at a busy client site. You will ensure that assigned tasks are completed in a professional and timely manner and meet relevant legislations.

You will be working Sunday to Wednesday on a variable shift rota, 48 hours per week.
