- Serves as the sole official spokesperson and primary contact for local and national media that require immediate responsiveness.
- Supervise a Public Affairs staff of civilian personnel; assign, direct, and review work and determine training needs.
- Develops performance plans, evaluates work performance, and counsels staff as appropriate.
- Serve as the principal staff advisor to the Garrison Commander and senior staff principals on matters involving public issues and the creation of communication policy.
- Manage, plan, and direct community relations, command information, media relations and social media programs and campaigns to convey information, build attitudes and change opinions about installation, Army and DOD programs.
- Plans, implements end oversees effective internal information programs through the garrison newspaper, garrison website and other internal communication media and forums.
- Plan, implement and oversee effective external information programs through multiple media venues, websites, newspaper and other internal communication media and forums.
