We are currently seeking a Police Staff Investigator (Complex) to join our dedicated team in Speke. As part of the Force Investigations Directorate, you will undertake the investigation of serious and complex crimes, supporting Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Investigations. Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare complex case files (MG files), and perform duties including Officer in the Case, telecommunications officer, exhibits officer, and disclosure officer.
• Manage your own caseload of serious and complex investigations, ensuring timely and efficient progress.
• Support operational activity during arrests, seize and handle exhibits, interview witnesses and suspects, and manage witness support throughout the criminal justice process.
• Investigate Hate Crime cases, working with partner agencies to reduce repeat offenses and victims.
• Execute search warrants, present digital evidence, and conduct house-to-house inquiries as needed.
• Adhere to all health and safety and legal standards.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven investigative experience, particularly in managing complex investigations.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise urgent matters efficiently.
• Knowledge of legal and procedural compliance for investigations, disclosure, and the handling of exhibits.
• Willingness to undertake relevant courses to enhance investigative skills.
• PEACE interview training and experience working with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is desirable.

Job Role/Responsibilities:
Undertake the investigation of serious and complex crime in accordance with the Investigation Allocation Model supporting Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Investigations in order to increase public satisfaction and reduce the fear of crime.

• Prepare complex MG files and schedules for level 2 and 3 Investigations, acting as Officer, telecommunications officer, exhibits officer, and handling disclosure as needed. Review obtained records for legal compliance and identify further investigative opportunities.
• Manage individual responsibility for crimes, multitasking across various roles in serious investigations, and prioritize urgent matters for Detective Inspector's attention.
• Complete prosecution-related paperwork and act as case officer in serious crime investigations, submitting evidence to national standards and attending judicial proceedings if required.
• Support operational activity post-arrest, including handling exhibits, interviewing witnesses, victims, and suspects, and managing witness involvement in the criminal justice process.
• Manage and investigate Hate Crime, providing specialist advice, collaborating with partner agencies to prevent repeat offenses and victims.
• Support warrants process, including preparing paperwork, executing search warrants, and conducting searches.
• Obtain and present CCTV and digital images, conduct House to House enquiries as needed.
• Ensure Health and Safety compliance within the post holder's area of responsibility.
• Gather and submit criminal intelligence reports, complying with information management practices and data security protocols.
• Undertake business change and projects within the Investigative strand, assist with resource management, recruitment, and training.

Knowledge/Experience required:

• Proven inter-personal and communication skills, both oral and written.
• The post holder must be able to write and produce comprehensive letters and reports to a high standard.
• Ability to plan and organise, manage priorities, balancing their workload and work to deadlines monitoring delivery to ensure required standard is met.
• The post holder must be willing and able to undertake relevant courses to enable them to conduct criminal investigations together with the ability to interview witnesses and victims and interview suspects. They must have or be able to work towards gaining a sound and accurate working knowledge of legislation and procedures relevant to the documenting, handling and storage of exhibits, the responsibilities, and procedures in respect of disclosure.
• Ability to work in a small team with minimum supervision.

Job role/responsibilities:
To provide a visible security services provision, initial visitor contacts services and out-of-hours reception services to various force locations ensuring that unauthorised persons do not gain access to the site, whilst maintaining a helpful and welcoming service to all authorised persons and callers.

• Provide high visibility security services for the site by means of access control equipment, checking the ID of all persons and vehicles entering the site and issuing the appropriate visitor passes when necessary, maintaining appropriate record keeping.
• Ensure that the appropriate security measures are in place in accordance with the response level requirements for the threat level identified. When required, conduct vehicle searches in accordance with training and appropriate to the circumstances. Conduct hourly camera sweeps of the perimeter and undertake patrols of the perimeter and the building interiors at the agreed frequencies.
• Manage the CCTV system in accordance with protocols set out for its use under the Data Protection Act.
• Respond to all alarms in an appropriate manner, ensuring that the security of premises is maintained, and the appropriate assistance is provided to anyone attending the site in response to an alarm. Fulfil the roles detailed in the Emergency Procedures for the post. Take responsibility for the Gatehouse safe and recording any issues and receipts of its contents to the nominated Authorised Departmental Officers, which may include specialist equipment store key, A.R.V. main armoury keys, matrix disruption taser keys, departmental (x 4) C.S. spray, tracker, airwave cabinets keys, vehicle fast tags, airwave radios, force training establishments keys, crime exhibits.
• Provide consistent and co-ordinated visitor contact/reception services for all visitors to the site, ensuring that customers are dealt with appropriately and the requirements and procedures of the Force are adhered to.
• Ensure that requests/bookings for visitor'sparking are handled appropriately and in a timely manner.
• Undertake various associated duties, such as the issue of keys to authorised personnel and packages.

Knowledge/Experience:

• The post-holder must have good interpersonal and communication skills to demonstrate a professional customer service approach to all staff and visitors.
• The postholder must be physically fit to undertake the required level of Personal Safety Programme, Training, Fire Procedure duties and patrol duties.
• Alarm Systems: There are four types of alarm that the post-holder must have knowledge of; the fire alarm, the internal intruder alarm, the external intruder alarm, and the "bomb" alert.
• CCTV System: To use the system in a manner that meets both the stated purpose of the system and the requirements of the Data Protection legislation and good practice, the post-holder must understand the procedures set out for the use of the system and be able to put them into practice at any time.
• The fire alarm will require the duty Security Officers to perform differing duties. Depending on site, the duties range from, managing the ingress and egress at site, reading the fire panel, investigating the occurrence, and informing the Fire Brigade of the location of the activated sensor when on duty.
