Legal Secretary

Bristol or Manchester - You'll complete your training at one of our offices, then you'll have the option to work in a hybrid way, dividing your time between working from home and the office.

We're looking for legal secretary to join our family law team at Co-op Legal Services.

In this role you'll provide key administrative support our family department, making sure everything runs smoothly and our clients are receiving the best possible service. We'll look to you primarily to book appointments with our clients, own the billing process and create bundles and briefs, alongside some typing and organisation work. You'll work exclusively on private client family matters funded privately.

You don't need legal experience for this role, so if you have the secretarial skills we're looking for we can offer you the chance to build on your secretarial skills in an ethical business with exciting plans for the future.

What you'll do:

* assist the solicitors with their cases
* prepare trial bundles and briefs for counsel
* take responsibility for the family law team post; manage any outgoing correspondence
* be responsible for billing clients and processing customer cheques as well as raising invoices for any external services used
* organise the storage of family law files accurately recording all data
* some dictation and typing work

Legal Case Manager

Manchester, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Bristol, Sheffield - You'll complete your 3-6-month training at one of our offices, then you'll have the option to work in a hybrid way.

We're looking for case managers to join our Co-op Legal Services probate team. You don't need legal experience for this role, as we'll provide full training to get you up to speed.

In this role, you'll provide legal and administrative support to our customers following a bereavement. We'll look to you to manage each case from beginning to end, discussing the estate of the deceased, and keeping in continuous contact with the customer. You'll make a real difference to customers lives at a time when they need us most, and as a growing business we're passionate about developing our colleagues through our internal career progression framework. As a legal administrator, you'll support case handlers and the wider team with a variety of administrative tasks, and most importantly looking after our clients. You don't need any legal experience to be successful in this role however you'll gain great exposure to a variety of legal work. Due to continued growth of our Family law team, we're looking for solicitors to join us at Co-op Legal Services across a variety of levels, from newly qualified up to Senior level.

In this role, you'll manage a variety of new and existing family caseloads end to end with a client focused approach to targets. We'll look to you to use your expertise to provide the best outcomes for your clients and work collaboratively with your team. You won't need to bring a following of clients with you as we will source these for you. What you'll do

* take ownership of a mixed caseload of family matters, undertaking active negotiation to get the best results for your clients, administrative and secretarial support will also be provided
* use our case management system to make sure information is recorded accurately
* meet individual and team chargeable time & profit cost targets
* draft and audit legal documents and correspondence
* if you're bought in at the senior level they'll also be some line management responsibilities for the associate solicitors

This role would suit people who have

* qualified as solicitor / CILEX qualified, with experience in handling privately funded family law matters
* proven experience of working towards and meeting chargeable and billing targets
* good general IT skills including use of a case management system
* great relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with all types of people and provide excellent customer service
* a high level of attention to detail and great organisational skills
* resilience with the ability to embrace change

You won't need to bring a following of clients with you as we will source these for you, and you don't need to support with the business development side allowing you more time to focus on your cases. What you'll do

• Provide legal advice to clients over the phone and via other written communications channels
• Progress a mixed caseload of family matters, undertaking active negotiation and mediation
• Make sure our various targets are met
• Support the team in progressing more complex cases as needed
• Draft and audit legal documents and correspondence
• Continuously develop your legal knowledge and awareness in all areas of family law

This role would suit people who have

• Qualified as solicitor / CILEX qualified, with experience in handling privately funded family law matters
• Solid technical knowledge of divorce, separation, financial settlements, cohabitation, and children law
• Experience using a case management system
• Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with partners up to senior level
• Good attention to detail and a strong customer focus
