The Serco Design, Integration and Test team is looking for skilled engineers with a desire to develop their careers in electronics, hardware, and automatic test engineering. As a Hardware Engineer you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing hardware solutions which involves the definition, integration, commissioning, acceptance, and Post Design Support (PDS) of electronics hardware and test equipment. You will be responsible for architectural design, detailed design (electronic and mechanical, PCB layout, and circuit design), verification testing, support, and obsolescence management.

Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Analyse requirement specifications.
- Develop architectural and detailed hardware designs utilising COTS / bespoke components.
- Contribute to design reviews.
- Develop verification and acceptance test strategies.
- Undertake test, commission, integration acceptance and PDS activities including obsolescence management.
- Produce plans, specifications, and support documentation.
- Deliver in a manner that meets the contractual requirements and the relevant internal processes.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- HNC/HND in Electronic/Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Ability to generate comprehensive design lifecycle documentation.
- Previous experience in a mix of the following areas: digital, analogue, FPGA, RF, EMC and interface, cable, mechanical and PCB design.
- Excellent communication and teamworking abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and shows enthusiasm working towards goals.
- Serco will apply for SC level security clearance for the candidate prior to appointment; successful attainment of clearance is a pre-requisite for employment.
