The key purpose of this role is to lead on the Ship Life Extension Plan management team with responsibility for the oversight and management of the upcoming Programmes (SLEPs) achieving customer approved technical solutions for the programme on time and budget.
Working with the Project Manager, and sometimes interchangeably, you will ensure a consistently safe and effective engineering works package is being managed and reported by our subcontract partners Shipyard facilities. Responsible for an effective Ship Life Extension Programme (SLEP) across a fleet of vessels improving the reliability of vessels and allowing the continued services of vessels while minimising loss of operational availability​ until replacement vessels enter service.​​ The SLEP will integrate major scheduled maintenance tasks, in-depth system overhauls and replacements, to extend the safe operational capability of a vessel.​
Serco as a Prime Contractor will coordinate the programme management & customer liaison elements throughout the circa 14-18month contract, working with the two selected shipyards delivering the SLEP activities. The Technical Manager is the senior engineering lead that forms part of the Management Team, assuring the Serco Maritime Director and the Customer Representative on all matters related to the progress and completion of SLEPs activities.

Main Accountabilities:



- To be the lead technical POC ensuring risks issues and opportunities are communicated, mitigated and acted upon in a timely and effective manner.
- Provide assurance to the Customer and Maritime Services Director that all activities are undertaken in a safe environment and are fully compliant with MCA, Class, Health and Safety, ISM & ISPS codes and any other legal requirements that may be applicable to the Programme at all times.

The overall purpose of Sheltered Housing is to provide the right accommodation and support when needed. In Sheltered Housing we promote independent living for residents but with the knowledge that someone is always on hand to give support and to be available to help in an emergency. Residents have their own tenancy agreement with Portsmouth City Council; therefore residents are able to live independently in their own accommodation but with some support available as needed.

What is the role?

Residents in Sheltered Housing have a range of physical and mental health needs which means they need our support to maintain their independence. You will work to achieve this as per the Sheltered Housing Purpose. You will be working as a mobile Cat 1 Scheme Manager providing advice and support to residents living in Category 1 Sheltered Housing accommodation across the City.

As a mobile Scheme Manager, you will work closely with other Scheme Managers and will be expected to provide cover when the designated Manager is not at work. You may also be called upon to provide additional cover at short notice if there is a period of high demand. Part of the role will involves meeting and greeting new tenants, introducing them to the Category 1 Sheltered Housing Service and making them aware of the service that they can expect.

You will act as an advocate for residents when working with other agencies and you will be acting as a link to other agencies including social services, care agencies and health services. What you’ll be leading on

Programme managing and facilitating the development of the region’s 5-10 years forward programme of work, coordinating inputs and activities across multiple regional teams (e.g. Asset Needs, Digital Services, Scheme Delivery and Commercial)
Ensuring all relevant activities required in the development of the forward programme are well planned, managed and delivered within expected timescales, technical and quality standards
Utilising the tools and specialist resources required to manage and embed programme development and VM processes in the Region’s investment and scheme planning activities.
Managing the development of project briefs and business cases, ensuring business outcomes are clearly articulated, and that all necessary stakeholders (e.g. asset needs, design, delivery, digital services, suppliers, early contractor involvement etc.) are consulted on the development of the proposed solutions.
To provide leadership, direction and line management of your team of project managers, ensuring timely setting of objectives, performance management reviews and development of appropriate succession and development plans.
Ensuring the health and safety and wellbeing of customers, employees and our suppliers are fully considered and accounted for throughout the planning and delivery of each activity

To be successful

Good understanding of relevant tunnels and roadside technology standards (CD352, CM430, knowledge of specifications contained in National Highways Operational Technology Specifications Library) and associated strategies for renewal
Expert knowledge of asset specific Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highways network.
Good commercial, contract and financial acumen, including driving innovation and adding value to programmes of work to ensure budgets and deliverables are met.
Experience in leading a high performing team to achieve deliverables to programme and budget
Demonstrate previous experience of project/programme management across a portfolio of schemes, and have a working knowledge of project management tools, ideally including CEMAR & P6 Programmes
Experience working collaboratively with suppliers and internal & external stakeholders to deliver a safe, cost effective programme of work

I'm working with one of the UK's leading leisure/travel businesses who are undertaking a Digital Transformation process which includes the redevelopment of a number of core business systems. We're looking for an Interim Head of Software Delivery / Software Development Manager for a 15 month maternity cover to join their team, either hybrid in Farnborough or UK Remote (minimum 1 day in office per month).

Your new role

Driving this growth they have hired a new IT Director who has restructured teams and is pushing the implementation of cloud across the business. The dev team is currently at 8 and will double this/next year so it's a great and exciting time to be joining.

This is a management position, overseeing the Software Development team and Software Delivery practices, overall you'll be one of the go-to technical people within the organisation and will continue to help them scale and instil software best practice.

What you'll need to succeed
We're looking for an existing Software Delivery Manager or Software Development Manager with 10+ years working in the industry - and within at least 1 enterprise business.
You must have a comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft .Net & Agile Development, including Scrum, Lean, Kanban, XP, DevOps, Pair Programming, TDD, BDD etc.

You must also have a proven track record in building high traffic enterprise applications at scale, leading and managing teams on complex software programs.

Ideally you'll have worked on Ecommerce platforms or in the travel industry helping to share Software best practice to build high performance teams.~

Your new role

The Product Service division has a team of developers creating solutions to help the business achieve its ambitions growth objectives. They are seeking an experienced Software Test Manager, with a hands-on approach to join their dynamic team. You will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping our software testing strategy and sizing and building a new software test group. The initial focus will be ensuring effective testing for a critical windows application, but it is expected that the team will need to grow to address the group's testing needs.
You will formulate and execute an effective test strategy for both Windows and Web Applications and conduct thorough analysis of projects requirements and collaborate with the development team to design and implement test plans.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of identifying and isolating defects in complex software systems.
