Our client is looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join them in what will be an exciting time in the business's growth, to help deliver their award-winning estate administration service to their clients.
What you'll be doing
The junior software engineer will assist with the maintenance and further development of an existing leading-edge suite of web and application tools.The role will also include the extraction and manipulation of data from the software for management information purposes and the presentation of this data in an accessible format using Microsoft resources including Excel and Power BI.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Obtaining a thorough technical understanding of the existing systems and the likely future amendments to the system.
- Following existing development practices within the team, e.g. coding standards, use of tools.
- Designing or amending reports to pull information from the legal software suite.
- Design, development, and implementation of management information dashboards in Excel or Power BI as appropriate and amendment of existing dashboards as required.
- Understanding the business requirements, priorities, and goals and how they relate to the software being developed - training and support provided.
- Understanding development requests and ideas and converting them to production applications and tools.
- Working in a methodical, controlled environment with sufficient test programs and documentation.
- Assisting the IT systems administrator with tasks e.g. providing holiday cover or help with time-sensitive problems.

- An interest in developing a career within IT.
- Studied towards qualifications in IT, Computer Science, or similar.

Salary: 21K per annum
Location: Bristol, hybrid
Hours: Typical office hours are 9am - 5pm, flexible working available
