About the Role Base Location: Glasgow or Perth
Salary: £47,600 - £71,600 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

As Technical Accountant, your main role will be to support the Groups application of relevant financial standards, through the assessment of ad-hoc accounting issues arising and through the maintenance of specific policies within the Groups Financial Policies Manual (GFPM).
To do this effectively, you will need an understanding of SSEs markets and operations, IFRS and other relevant GAAPs. Your role will require the provision of technical accounting support to business units, often through ad hoc issues being presented for analysis and interpretation.
The role will, from time to time, require direct or indirect involvement in business development projects including acquisitions, disposals and joint venture structuring.
Another primary aspect of the role will be involvement in the Groups adoption and roll-out of new accounting standards, interpretations and amendments. The role reports to the Group Technical Reporting Manager and involves working closely with the Director of Group Reporting and other senior Finance contacts.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Fully qualified Chartered Accountant with 5+ years Post Qualified Experience in a Financial Reporting or External Audit role, ideally with plc or relevant industry experience
- Fully up to date knowledge of accounting standards and corporate governance requirements and awareness of emerging issues
- Ability to consider commercial and operational implications of technical accounting opinions
