What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $145,000/year. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to work 3 days in office, and 2 days remotely.

As the Senior Legislative Affairs Specialist, you will lead DOTI's legislative affairs activities, spearheading interaction and engagement with Denver's City Council. Additionally, you'll play a crucial role in generating awareness, fostering understanding, and garnering support for DOTI's initiatives and objectives within the realm of local legislative affairs.
Specifically, as the Senior Legislative Affairs Specialist of DOTI you will:
Support and represent DOTI in legislative initiatives, serving as the primary point of contact for Denver City Council members, advising on policies and priorities that align with DOTI's mission and vision
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with both executive agencies and external stakeholders, including City Council and the Mayor’s Office, to ensure coordinated responses, advice, and counsel on legislative issues, information requests, and policy alignment
Monitor and research activities and concerns relevant to City Council and the Mayor’s Office, providing professional support and strategic advice to DOTI on legislative matters, grassroots outreach, advocacy, and educational programming
Manage compliance and administrative tasks, ensuring timely submission of departmental forms, memberships, and conference registrations, while also contributing to operational advancements for efficiency and potential revenue growth within DOTI
Support continuous quality improvement efforts and the annual assessment of budget activities, working closely with department leadership to align strategies, programs, and priorities with organizational goals
Prepare data and research to support DOTI strategies, including alignment with federal and state legislation, and provide executive-level guidance on legislative engagement
Serve as the departmental staff lead for the DOTI Advisory Board, strategizing on board topics and agenda items with committee members and DOTI leadership, and acting as a point of contact for other external stakeholder groups as needed
Assist and complete various tasks and projects as assigned by the DOTI Deputy Manager of Internal and External Affairs
About You
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for an experienced leader with business and political acumen that is outcome oriented and has a proven track record of excellent performance within a very complex enterprise.
Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Governmental Affairs, Business, or Communications
Five years of professional level work in government affairs, public policy, business management, or a related field
Demonstrated experience in communication skills, both written and oral, and the creation and delivery of presentations, as well as testimony
Demonstrated experience in maintaining positive relationships with elected officials and other stakeholders
Experience working with or in government, politics or regulatory agencies, as well as the ability to grasp complex policy and technical issues
Experience providing executive-level advice and counsel
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, or a related field
Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional experience at the type and level of Management Analyst Senior or planning and conducting operational and/or management studies including determining study methods and procedures, analyzing data, developing recommendations and implementation strategies, and preparing reports of findings and recommendation
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education; additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
