Overview

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Senior System Engineer is responsible to provide operational support to system infrastructure, support to the clients and resolution of technical issues and conducting root cause analysis. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Delivery

• Gather business and/or application requirements on the infrastructure, conduct impact analysis, suggest design/re-design to integrate the change into the existing environment
• Test systems in accordance to specifications & service level. Where relevant, perform the necessary system programming & configuration
• Manage systems changes through established change request process & provide status reports to the relevant parties
• Respond promptly to incident, investigate & provide temporary &/or permanent resolution of incidents escalated. Provide timely status updates to relevant parties
• Conduct root cause analysis & implement pro-active measures. Monitor effectiveness of implemented measures
• Monitor & measure the performance & availability of systems proactively; implement corrective actions identified to improve performance & availability
• Monitor the agreed service level (.e.g. service request, system availability), document & maintain the configuration of the systems; provide regular reporting to relevant parties
• Execute service continuity measures, e.g. backup/restore procedures & disaster recovery plan dry run to ensure continuous operation of the business
• Ensure the management of ICT systems adhere to established ISO20000 & ISO27001 processes / procedures and ITIL best practices / ITSM and methodologies (e.g. change management, release management, incident management, problem management, configuration management)
• Manage budget, resources and schedule for system implementation / operation activities; ensure deliverables meet client requirements and quality standards
• Established facility management standards/best practices to ensure operation consistency across project/facility management teams

Customer /Team Management

• Provide systems related technical advice to customers or project team. Lead and assist in the development of bids and proposals
• Manage support resources to prioritize task allocation and schedule resource to ensure that services are not impacted
• Liaison with other associated project teams to ensure that the service is monitored, secured and operating at its optimal level

Deployment Phase

• Involve in the design, build and test of the environment infrastructure for Exchange, Lync, Ironport and other associated peripheral to deliver the whole Messaging and collaboration service
• Involve in the design, build and test of the environment infrastructure for Redhat, Google Apps, VMWare, GSA and other associated peripheral to deliver the whole Messaging and collaboration service in the cloud
• Involve in migration of users from old infrastructure to new infrastructure and manage the allocated resources to ensure successful migration

Production Support

• Ensure that the operation for Infrastructure Services are running smoothly and manage vendors such as hardware and software providers for hardware replacement and performance tuning and capacity planning
• Required to be on standby for escalation of major incident and ensuring that incident are handled according to SOP and addressed promptly

REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma / Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent
• 5 - 7 years of experience in supporting server infrastructure for Redhat Linux, Wintel, Google Apps, VMWare, Cyrus (OpenSource IMAP), Azure and GSA (Google Search Appliance)
• Experience in Nutanix will be advantageous

• Server Management. Administer servers, middleware and installation of OS and software. Strong technical competency on Windows and Unix/Linux OS administration is mandatory.
• Work with customer-appointed vendor and Tenant Facility management team in carrying out service requests on the GeBIZ systems hosted in Government Data Centre. Eg raise SR into ITSM portal for Wintel, network, unix and database and liaise with FM and internal requestor for completion and verification. Need to support weekly application code deployment every Tuesday and Thursday.
• Perform administration and troubleshooting of office’s application systems and provide daily operation support to the application users.
• Escalate and manage any fault escalation to contractor for equipment failure.

The ideal candidate should possess:

• Diploma / Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent
• 1 - 3 years of relevant IT experience.
• 1 – 3 years of hands-on experience in Infrastructure System server
• Hands-on experience in MS SCCM

As a Infra System Storage Engineer, you are responsible to maintain Standard Operating Procedure, together with the customer to ensure the processes are in line and up to date as necessary..

What you will do:

• Maintain Standard Operating Procedure, together with the customer to ensure the processes are in line and up to date as necessary.
• Install new and/or rebuild infrastructure, server, storage, hardware appliances, services, settings, in accordance with customer’s requirement that complies with audit processes.
• Perform daily system checks and monitoring and to highlight if any abnormalities are found.
• Ensure that backups are running and send off the media off site as necessary
• Create, Change, delete users accounts as per request.
• Perform monthly and ad-hoc patching as necessary for the various servers that are covered under the contract.
• Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
• Perform monthly performance reporting and capturing of server health statistics to assist with capacity planning.
• Perform level 1 troubleshooting and maintenance for storage. Work with level 2 storage teams for more in depth troubleshooting and/or deployment of new storage
• Work on any other server related requests as and when needed.
• Perform escort of vendors as necessary within the customer’s premises
• Rotating standby to work on night or weekend tasks when required.

The ideal candidate should possess:

• Diploma / Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent
• 5 - 7 years of hands-on experience in Windows Server and Hitachi Storage.
