Functions as a Warehouse Worker Foreman, responsible for work on a rotational basis, that includes the warehouse, commissary and clothing issue/laundry operations at a Federal Bureau of Prisons’ facility.

Supervises inmate workers who are responsible for receiving, storing, shipment, and issue of a wide variety of supplies, materials, equipment and commodities required in the operation of the facility, as well as, the issuance of inmate clothing and laundering of items for inmates and institutional operations such as Health Services or Food Service.

Responsible for the inventory control of materials for the institution which consists of receipt, cataloging, stocking, and issuing of all incoming materials from outside sources.

Maintains adequate shipping and receiving documents and inventory documentation, using both manual procedures and automated data processing systems, so as to maintain a system of perpetual inventory accountability for all items that pass through or remain under incumbent’s control.

What are the Major Duties of this Position? Functions as a Warehouse Worker in the Food Service Department at the a Bureau of Prisons (BOP) federal correctional facility.

Responsible for supervising inmate workers who receive, store, and issue a wide variety of supplies, material, equipment and commodities required in the operation of the Food Service Department.

Responsible for clerical, Funds Control, Time and Attendance and budgeting duties as assigned by the Food Service Administrator and is expected to apply a working knowledge of policies and procedures as related to this office and the food service aspect of the institution.

Responsible for delivery follow-up on outstanding purchase orders placed with commercial vendors.

The incumbent supervises and trains inmate workers in various phases associated with the construction, repair, maintenance, and renovation of buildings and related structures, grounds, fixtures and utilities, requiring the use of a variety of skills within the welding specialty, and other related trades.

The primary scope of work performed is fabrication of security metal products for institutional use. Sets up and operates Oxygen-Acetylene cutting and welding stations, Tungsten Inert Gas and Metal Inert Gas Welders, Iron Worker, gas and electric Arc Welders, horizontal and vertical band saws, portable and stationary grinders and drills. Does precision layout work for the completion of fabrication within specified tolerances. Machines needed parts from worn and broken parts. Overhauls institution equipment and machines. Fabricates and welds to meet the security requirement of the institution.

Under the general direction of the Associate Warden, is responsible for the organization, supervision, and administration of all religious programs as well as other religious activities that may be designated by proper authority.

Provides a full pastoral ministry to inmates of all faith groups which includes opportunities for their public and private worship on Sundays and other such holy days as are appropriate within each faith group.

Establishes and conducts a well-rounded program of religious instruction including classes, correspondence, work, and discussion groups.

Maintains a close working relationship with other departments within the institution and participates on various committees, including unit team meeting.

Supervises institutional Chaplains, and Chaplaincy services support staff (if applicable), assessing performance, conduct, and goal accomplishment, and providing administrative oversight and loose parameters by which program goals should be planned and accomplished.

Documents all aspects of patient management utilizing the electronic health record according to established policy and licensure requirements.

Makes recommendations on matters of policy, procedures, training, personnel, and equipment, which may include developing written policies and procedures that reflect the objectives and operation of physical therapy services, as well as providing input for multidisciplinary programs with physical therapy involvement.

What are the Major Duties of this Position?

Evaluates and/or supervises the evaluation of inmates to assess competency to stand trial and/or the offender’s responsibility for his behavior at the time of the offense.

Assists in interdisciplinary classification of inmates by identifying behavioral, emotional, personality disorders, organic mental disorders, alcohol or drug dependencies and/or self-destructive potential and the subsequent development of suitable suggested programs for the individual inmate.

Plans and performs both individual and group psychotherapy on a regularly scheduled basis.

Assists in developing mental health programs and in training institution staff on how to recognize and deal with emotional, behavioral, and/or personality disorders.

Provides technical support and guidance to subordinate staff members designated responsible for the operation of various service functions.

This position is located in a Federal Bureau of Prisons federal correctional facility, in the Special Investigative Services Office.

Serves as an assistant to the Special Investigative Agent (SIA)/Special Investigative Supervisor (SIS) and is responsible for providing assistance during investigations, developing reports, preparing correspondence, maintaining evidence, and computer support.

Assists the SIA/SIS in conducting investigations of inmate violations of BOP prohibited acts of various severity levels, such as assaults, introduction of contraband or narcotics, possession of money or currency, communicating gang affiliation and/or participating in gang activities, and other prohibited activities. Investigations can range in length from several hours to weeks or months depending on severity.

Serves as a training instructor in a vocational or occupational training program in the Education Department of a Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) correctional facility and may also serve as a program coordinator for other vocational/occupational training programs.

Selects and/or develops curriculums which focus on the appropriate vocational training area.

This position has direct responsibility for the delivery of classroom training for vocational and apprenticeship courses in the field/trade of HVAC.

Develops a curriculum design and record-keeping system to organize and track student progress through identified course work.

Ensures the training program(s) are implemented and delivered in compliance with Bureau policies, Department of Labor, and Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training regulations, and the standards established by other certifying agencies and organizations.

Serve as apprenticeship program coordinator with responsibility for coordinating the various occupational training programs and classes, as well as responsibilities which include development, review and evaluation of the vocational trades program.
