Position Summary:
As a Painter at Bullant Building, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the aesthetic appeal of both residential and commercial properties. You will be responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing a variety of surfaces to the highest standard, working on projects from interior living spaces to external façades. You will collaborate with a team of professionals and ensure the quality and durability of all painting work.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Surface Preparation:
• Prepare surfaces by removing old paint, filling cracks, and smoothing surfaces, ensuring they are ready for painting.
• Make necessary repairs to walls, ceilings, and woodwork.
2. Painting and Finishing:
• Apply paint, varnish, or stains to a variety of surfaces, including doors, windows, walls, and ceilings, using brushes, rollers, or spray-painting techniques.
• Ensure smooth, even coatings with attention to colour matching and quality.
3. Material and Equipment Handling:
• Mix and select appropriate paints, primers, and sealers as required.
• Clean and maintain painting equipment and ensure all materials are stored properly.
4. Safety and Protection:
• Set up scaffolding and ladders safely, protect adjacent areas with drop sheets, and ensure floors and furniture are adequately covered to prevent paint splatter.
5. Team Leadership:
• Provide guidance to junior painters, monitor their work, and train them in proper painting techniques and safety protocols.
6. Project Cleanliness:
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace during and after projects, ensuring all work areas are restored to their original condition after job completion.
7. Additional Duties:
• May hang wallpaper, ensuring precise pattern alignment and trimming.
• May repair windows and replace glass in wooden and metal frames.
• May assist in laying and repairing wall and floor tiles as required for certain projects.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Suitable trade certification or at least at least three years of relevant experience.
• At least two years of prior experience in both residential and commercial painting in a similar environment.
• Proficiency in surface preparation, paint mixing, and applying finishes.
• Strong attention to detail and an eye for quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Previous experience in training and mentoring junior painters is advantageous.
