Salary: $74,000 to 78,000 plus 11.5 % superannuation
Our client, Spectrum Blinds Pty Ltd, a leading provider of high-quality custom blinds and window furnishings, is seeking a qualified and experienced Tailor (Commercial) to join their team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the production of high-quality, custom-made blinds and window treatments, meeting both client specifications and company standards. Your
expertise in tailoring, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment will be key to the continued success of the business.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in tailoring, preferably within a commercial or manufacturing environment, and be capable of working with a variety of fabrics, materials, and machinery. As a Tailor (Commercial), you will play an integral role in the production process, ensuring timely delivery of products while maintaining the highest quality standards. You will work closely with the production team and management to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
In this role your main responsibilities include:
Identifying and selecting suitable fabrics for drapes, curtains, or garments based on design requirements.
Measuring and cutting fabric precisely using patterns or templates.
Drafting or modifying patterns for curtains, drapes, or garments to meet design specifications.
Operating industrial sewing machines to stitch fabrics together with attention to detail.
Applying various stitching techniques such as pleating, hemming, or piping to enhance product quality.
Attaching necessary hardware (e.g., hooks, loops, or rings) to curtains and drapes for installation.
Conducting quality control checks to ensure the final product meets factory standards.
Collaborating with design teams or supervisors to ensure product alignment with client expectations.
Repairing or altering defective products before shipment or delivery.
Maintaining a clean and organized workspace to ensure safety and efficiency.
Keeping records of materials used and time spent on each project for production tracking.
Following safety protocols when using cutting tools, sewing machines, or other equipment.
Meeting production targets and deadlines as per factory schedules.
Training junior staff or new recruits in the use of machines or specific tailoring techniques.
Performing minor machine maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure smooth operation.
Qualifications, experience and Skills:
A minimum of two years' experience Commercial Tailor
Have relevant qualification
Ability to multitask
Excellent time management skills
Ability to lead and train your team
