If selected, you will serve as a Human Resources Specialist within the United States Attorney's Office - Eastern District of Michigan. The work involves providing a variety of human resources management services in two or more of the following functional areas: recruitment and placement, position classification, employee relations and performance management, employee benefits, labor relations, and human resources development. Assignments include both day-to-day case processing, advice and assistance to management and staff, and special projects.

Typical work assignments will include:

• Providing management with a wide range of flexible and innovative strategies in administering staffing and placement activities for the district.
• Providing advise and assistance in situations requiring extensive analysis.
• Providing a full range of classification and position management services for the district.
• Providing advise and assistance on the processes and procedures of performance management systems and incentive award programs.
• Planning, developing, and administering programs to train and develop district employees.

Serve as a Human Resources Assistant within the United States Attorney's Office - Eastern District of Michigan. The work involves providing routine technical assistance and processing support to Human Resources specialists who provide recruitment and placement, classification, employee relations, employee benefits, personnel action processing and other related services.

Duties may include:

• Screening requests, documents, and reports for completeness and accuracy.
• Receiving personnel actions and determining processing data to include the nature of action and authority codes, remarks and other requirements based on the nature of the action.
• Assisting in recruitment activities by verifying veterans' preference, coordinating entrance on duty and release dates, and processing pre-appointment security packets.
• Providing office automation support.

• Develops/advises on HR programs, which may include: Recruitment, Employee Relations, Performance, Awards, Leave, Classification, and Hiring Panels.
• Provides technical guidance and evaluates organizational needs to resolve complex human resource issues that span multiple HR disciplines.
• Interprets and applies personnel/position management guidelines to daily HR operations, and in providing advice and assistance to the workforce.
• Analyzes data to identify trends and pattens, providing recommendations to improve HR strategies and processes, and monitor program effectiveness.
• Develops charts, graphs, or other visuals to display technical data clearly and effectively communicate finding and conclusions to senior leaders.
• Initiates, develops, and revises policy and procedures related to human resources or administrative issues.
• Identifies organizational knowledge gaps and provides training to supervisors and workforce on a variety of HR topics.
