We are seeking a HR Manager with strong experience gained within a heavy manufacturing or industrial background to join our HR team at Tarmac Aberthaw Cement Plant and Supply Chain and Logistics (South). Whilst this role is predominantly based at Aberthaw, travel to our Supply Chain and Logistics depots will be required occasionally, along with travel to other cement plants across the UK.

This vital HR Manager role is responsible for delivering a comprehensive, commercially focused HR service for one of our largest Cement Plants in the UK. It is a unique opportunity for you to partner with some key business stakeholders whilst working on a wide range of activities such as change initiatives, talent attraction and development, inclusion and diversity, employee engagement and business improvement initiatives.

As well as Aberthaw, this role is easily accessible from Bristol, Weston-super-Mare, Chepstow, Newport and Cardiff and the surrounding areas.

Reporting into the Senior HR Manager (Cement and Packed), the role of HR Manager will be responsible for managing all HR at our Aberthaw site as well as for our Supply Chain and Logistics teams in the Southern region.

As HR Manager you will represent the HR function within management teams to ensure national, Business Unit and local priorities and strategies are achieved. This role will also be responsible for:

• Implementing, monitoring, and adhering to HR policies, initiatives and projects within timescales to support the delivery of the Group objectives
• Working with colleagues to deliver the business’ strategy on talent attraction, talent identification and development and succession planning
• Leading on early careers activities, including our educational engagement activities
• Working with stakeholders to always ensure compliance with employment law and company policies, driving improvements to ensure HR processes are aligned to business needs
• Coaching and developing the site management teams on all aspects of people management
• Supporting Supply Chain and Logistics teams to create an enabling and engaging culture
• Promoting and instilling a culture of consistency, equality, and fairness in our handling of employee relations matters, challenging stakeholders where appropriate
• Managing good working relationships with Trade Unions - main point of contact for TU representatives across the Aberthaw site, and managing annual wage negotiation process
• Providing relevant HR KPI data, analysis and insight
• Driving an absence and performance management culture across the site
• Co-ordinating the annual performance review process and other such tasks required as part of the annual HR cycle

Suitable candidates for the role of HR Manager will be CIPD qualified (or equivalent experience) and possess a comprehensive understanding of HR principles and practices. You will also have in depth experience gained within a heavy manufacturing or industrial sector.

• Good working and practical understanding of employment law and how to deal with employee relations cases

They are looking for Mechanical Craftspersons / Senior Craftspersons to join their team on a full time permanent bases. The company is based just outside Cardiff but caters across Wales, South West and other locations across the UK.

The successful candidates must have a knowledge of the commercial systems and how the components within systems relate to each other. Within your role you will be responsible to plan, organise and undertake the installation of various systems to a high standard whilst using efficient resources to so. Allocated tasks will be given to you by the supervisor or Project Manager that you will be able to effectively complete, safely and with consideration to environmental impact using industry recognised practices.

Candidates must be able to carry out pipework fabrication, installation and jointing techniques for industrial and commercial system such as soldering, press fit, threading and fusion welding. The installation of bracket systems for distribution systems and the positioning and assembly of plant such as boilers, air source heat pumps, storage vessels etc.

Undertake allocated work tasks in the testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning and decommissioning of industrial and commercial cold water systems, hot water systems, heating systems and chilled water systems. You must be able to demonstrate competence in the health and safety, communication, quality control and environmental requirements.

Based on 37.5 hours per week, 8.00AM to 4.30PM Monday to Thursday and 8.00AM to 3.30PM Friday (excludes travel time) and 0.5 hour for lunch. Some occasional weekend work or overtime may feature. Hours worked over 37,5 hours paid at x1.5. Working away will see an up lift of £1 per hour. Not all projects are in South Wales so seeking individuals that would be willing to work away through the week. If required to work away, then lodging will be provided.

Rates - National JIB National Agreement pay structure

• Mechanical Senior Craftsman - £18.40 per hour
• Mechanical Craftsman - £16.84 per hour
