Our client, a collaborative and nurturing international firm, is looking for a Property & Casualty Claims Handler to join their vibrant and growing Insurance Group in Bristol. The firm has a well-established client base, acting for the vast majority of household and commercial property Insurers in the market, as well as some large insureds and cover holders. The team handles a wide variety of claims arising out of property damage, including (amongst other things) fire, water, subsidence, construction and impact damage.

This role is based in our client's Bristol office, however you will be able to work remotely from home for part of the week if desired, as the firm operates a hybrid working policy.

Your new role
The role largely involves running a case load of subrogated recovery matters on behalf of a range of insurers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to run a property recovery claim from first instruction, through the pre-action stage and into proceedings when necessary. A familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules is therefore necessary.

The work will be varied, interesting and challenging and where you show you can run the cases successfully, you will be given autonomy to stamp your own mark on the files; there will be the opportunity to work on matters varying in value from £10,000 all the way up to millions of pounds. Manage a large caseload of Property Insurance claims.

Hays are working with a firm in Central Bristol who are looking for a reconciliation assistant on a temporary basis for 2 months. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 35 hours a week. This role is hybrid working, 2-3 in the office. Pay for the role is £13.72 per hour. Duties include:

• Ensuring all bank statements are obtained and loaded into the system
• Investigating unmatched items and reporting breaches
• Following up with various finance teams to ensure postings are taken promptly and accurately
• Month end reporting of bank reconciliation figures
• Dealing with opening and closing of bank accounts and ensuring the system is updated
• Managing account payments by ensuring enough funds are available and client requirements are met
• 3-way-match reconciliations

• Self-motivated, determined and confident in own abilities
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel

The firm has a well-established client base and the Claims Handling Department provides an outsourced managed claims handling service for leading professional indemnity insurers. The team adjusts claims made against professionals on behalf of leading insurers, acting under delegated authority levels for pre-litigated matters from first notification of loss to resolution. The firm's Claims Handling Department provides significant value to the wider law firm through the provision of referrals and is an important aspect of the firm's insurance business and future strategy; as such, this is an important role for the business.

This role is based in our client's Bristol office, however you will be able to work remotely from home for part of the week if desired, as the firm operates a hybrid working policy.

Your new role
The firm are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join their team who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations management of the department. This new role is intended to support the development and progression of the management team. It is to be internal only and is not client facing. You will work alongside their current Head of Claims Handling and report into the Partner with overall responsibility for the Claims Handling Department, both of whom are based in their Bristol office.The role requires excellent people and operations management skills and the ability to manage a dynamic team. You will work closely with the Head of Legal Claims Handling, Scheme Managers, and the Administration Team Leader to monitor and control the throughput of work so that claims are effectively managed and client expectations are met.The firm is looking for an experienced Operations Manager who can drive performance against contractually-set client SLA's and manage process adherence at every level of the department. You will also work with their Head of Claims Handling to devise operational targets at an individual, team and department level.To be successful in this role, you must live and breathe the client experience for insurers, brokers and insureds. You should understand how to create and maintain culture, values, and behaviours to galvanise a team of mixed experience, motivating them to perform and achieve for clients.Collaboration with the team is essential, applying coaching, training and mentoring skills that will develop team members to the best of their ability. Collectively, you will be responsible for building and shaping the team for the future.Whilst the role will be based in Bristol, and travel to the London office or to clients' offices may be required from time to time, this is a hybrid working role.
What you'll need to succeed

• Previous experience in an Insurance Claims operational leadership role.
• Experience of working within an Insurance Claims environment.
• Previous operational management experience of a large and growing team.
• Excellent communication skills and experience of stakeholder management.
• A legal or insurance qualification or similar level of relevant experience.
• A sound understanding of working in a regulated environment and the importance of compliance
