We have an exciting opportunity for an Administration Assistant to join our highly successful Accountancy Practice in Borehamwood. The role will involve supporting all departments with general administration duties which will involve data entry of information on client accounts, scanning documents for electronic filing, stationery, lunch orders, photocopying of documentation as well as Reception cover.

Information may be required from various sources to complete client files, including telephone enquiries, therefore it is essential that you’ll be confident in dealing with people of all levels and also be confident in your approach.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Providing general administration duties across all departments within the Firm.
• Maintaining general tidiness, cleanliness & replenishment of meeting room supplies of meeting rooms and general areas.
• Answering and directing phone calls promptly and politely.
• Relief Reception cover.
• Arranging and processing tracked and special deliveries & organising couriers.
• Organising and schedule appointments.
• Distributing email, correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms.
• Photocopying, scanning and printing duties.
• Electronic filing.
• Ordering office and kitchen supplies, ensuring sufficient stock of supplies in each kitchen each day, research new deals and suppliers.
• Acting as the point of contact and provide general support for internal and external clients.
• Liaising with Senior and executive management to handle requests and queries.
• Organising and franking outgoing post, ensuring the log is up to date.
• Any other job-related tasks as directed by manager.

Sopher + Co is looking for an experienced Chartered Secretarial Manager to join our team in Borehamwood. Reporting to the partners you will be working within a team of three providing corporate secretarial services in the UK.

Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Providing advice to clients, colleagues, and Partners on company secretarial matters, acting as a point of contact for technical queries.
• Managing a portfolio of clients and contributing to the smooth operation of the company secretarial department.
• Assisting with the client billing process for company secretarial work on a monthly basis, with additional responsibility for special work billing.
• Overseeing the maintenance of statutory registers for clients' companies and LLPs, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with best practices.
• Collaborating with the tax department on SEIS and EIS applications, providing input and ensuring alignment with company secretarial procedures.
• Managing both complex corporate actions and basic form filings, including but not limited to:

• Capital reductions via solvency statements.
• Share capital reorganisations (e.g., allotments, subdivisions, consolidations, share buybacks, redenomination, and the creation of new share classes).
• Share transfers and arranging Stamp Duty payments where required.
• Voluntary striking off private companies and LLPs.
• Assisting with amendments to articles of association and ensuring timely submission of filings to Companies House.
• Preparing dividend paperwork and basic forms (e.g., changes to company name, registered office, officer or shareholder details).

You will also have/be:

• ICSA Fellow or equivalent senior-level qualification.
• Strong technical expertise in company secretarial practice, with practical experience in drafting articles, capital reductions, share buybacks, and other corporate procedures.
• Experience in a similar role within a company secretariat department or professional services firm.
• Good understanding of company secretarial administration and the Companies Act 2006.
• Proficient in Diligent, CCH, and other company secretarial software packages.
• Advanced skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Personal Tax Assistant Manager

Due to continuous growth and expansion, we have an excellent opportunity for an experiences Assistant Personal Tax Manager to join the Tax team in our Borehamwood office. The role offers variety, autonomy and the opportunity to work with an incredibly broad range of clients. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Advising on inheritance and succession planning as well as dealing with and advising on trust matters.
• Reviewing clients’ residency and non-domiciliary status including where applicable reference to the remittance basis charge.
• Assist with the P11Ds, PSA, and ATEDs seasons where required.
• Undertake technical research for clients and tax consultants as required.
• Preparing complex tax returns for a diverse range of clients and reviewing returns of a less complex nature.
• Provide assistance to junior members of the team.

Ideally you will have relevant experience in a similar role, as well as a keen eye for detail, teamed with the ability to spot any inaccuracies or duplications and provide resolutions. Efficiency and accuracy are key as well as strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and the ability to work to tight deadlines. You will also have/be:

• ATT qualified.
• Good working knowledge of the SRT, tax treatment of non-doms and the remittance basis.
• Solid understanding of tax software.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and ideally proficient in CCH.
• The ability to self-manage and work autonomously.
