As Director, Human Resources, You will report directly to the Chief Executive with a professional responsibility to the Chief People Officer of the Ministry of Justice. As a member of the HMCTS executive team, you will be expected to work effectively at board level within HMCTS, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and the wider Government HR community. You will lead an HR function of around 150 FTE, with a budget of approximately £8.6 million. You will be accountable for leading day-to-day HR and organisational development, implementing a future-focused operational people strategy, supporting the executive in shaping and leading departmental culture, and designing the future size and shape of the organisation’s workforce in close partnership with the rest of HMCTS.

You will shape and drive organisational change, identifying current and future capability requirements, and supporting HMCTS in attracting, developing and engaging talented people. You will also ensure that we have effective and resilient day-to-day HR support and practices, including high impact performance management, excellent recruitment and retention practices and a high level of commitment to engagement. Building the capability of the organisation, you will strive to enhance the reputation of HMCTS as a great place to work.

You will be expected to develop and maintain strong relationships across all levels of the organisation, in addition to MoJ People Group and the wider Government HR Community.

Responsibilities

• Be a skilful business partner to the HMCTS CEO and Executive Team and, through the HR function, to the business as a whole;
• Collective ownership of delivering the HMCTS priorities, with particular responsibility for leading work to maximise the value from, and to, our people;
• Support the senior leadership team to successfully lead their people through major change whilst delivering operational performance, ensuring that the organisation consistently receives highly effective HR support and excellent service at all levels;
• Role model the values and live the purpose of the organisation;
• Work closely with MoJ People Group to drive performance and build the overall capability of the HR function and the wider HMCTS.

Lead HMCTS through complex workforce changes and implementation of new organisation design

• Lead the development and delivery of a refreshed People strategy, ensuring it supports the overall strategic direction of HMCTS and complements the MoJ’s corporate HR strategy;
• Work collaboratively with experts across government and colleagues within HMCTS, to develop and implement our organisational strategy;
• Identify the future shape, design and capability needs of the workforce and develop a strategic plan to ensure delivery.

Champion and lead excellent talent management, people and leadership development, engagement and continuous improvement to build a stronger organisation

• Lead our overall talent management approach to ensure that we identify and meet the potential of our strongest and most capable managers and manage under-performance effectively;
• Actively champion high impact people management and engagement approaches, ensuring we have the right tools to lead and manage our people most effectively through significant change;
• Demonstrate empathetic, outstanding and innovative people skills to support development of the organisational culture, a focus on continuous improvement and to build an environment that champions well-being and encourages engagement and inclusivity.

Be an inspirational leader in HMCTS, contributing positively to the overall development of HMCTS’s agenda and driving performance

• Participate as a full member of the HMCTS Executive Team, providing input and challenge to the overall strategic agenda, acting as a leader of the business in your own right;
• Work closely in partnership with the business, developing strong relationships especially within Operations to understand key business drivers and ensure these are part of your overall delivery strategy.

Be an active member of the Government People Group function

• Represent the interests of HMCTS in a range of MoJ and cross-Civil Service events and meetings, and contribute to the broader departmental people agenda;
• Contribute to the development of the HR profession by coaching and mentoring people to be the best they can be.

The Successful Applicant

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Proven experience as a CHRO or senior HR leadership role in a similar industry, with a track record of successful restructuring and organizational transformation.
Strong understanding of the online gaming sector and its unique HR challenges.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of HR best practices, labour laws, and regulations.
Experience with HR technology and systems implementation.
Able to read and write Chinese is a must.
Frequent travelling may be required.

The Deputy Director, HR Business Partnering (Operations) will manage a team of geographically dispersed HR Business Partners across His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS). The role will involve working strategically with senior business leaders to develop and oversee the delivery of people strategies and interventions which focus on retention, building capability and capacity, leadership development, attraction, talent and inclusion, ensuring alignment with People Group and Outcome Delivery Plan (ODP) priorities. The role will work alongside the DD HR Business Partnering (CEO) ensuring collective priorities and coordination across HMPPS people plans.

The post holder will be accountable for the delivery of the team's business plan objectives, working closely with both the HMPPS People Intelligent Client Function and People Group colleagues to determine appropriate cross-HMPPS priorities and setting direction for the operational HR Business Partnering team.

The post holder will help to shape and support the successful transition and embedding of the new HR Business Partnering operating model, leading the change and building and maintaining team engagement. They will also help to embed a revised HRBP service offer across HMPPS, ensuring clear expectations are communicated in order to provide a professional service to our stakeholders. This will also include building HR capability and talent within the team.

The role holder will report to, and work closely with the Executive HR Director, responsible for this area, and operate as a key member of the People Group leadership team, working to lead the people function across MoJ.

This role will include the following responsibilities

Your new role

In this key position you will manage and oversee ecological aspects of projects, advising clients on schemes such as mixed use and residential developments, minerals/waste projects, infrastructure and energy projects.

Day to day activity will include:

• Preparation of fee proposals and scope of works, report writing and technical review of peer and sub-contractor reports.
• Supervision and mentoring of ecology staff. Depending on skills and experience, the role may also include staff management and leading work on particular ecological specialisms.
• Scheduling, managing and ensuring delivery of complex ecological survey work packages on time and budget, using in-house and occasionally sub-contractor staff.
• Liaising with other technical teams on a variety of subjects including planning, landscape, hydrology, noise and air quality whilst working closely with senior members of the ecology team in other offices in the UK and other regions.
• Seeking opportunities through coordinated business development to expand ecology and other services and capabilities in the region.
• Your role will involve working with other team members located across the UK and other regions, depending on client/project sites and your expertise.

What you\'ll need to succeed

You should have an ecological specialism, whether it is; habitat survey, protected species, ornithology or another skill, plus be able to demonstrate competence in a range of different areas of ecological consultancy practice, able to lead and mentor others in their chosen specialism. Ideally you will also be able to demonstrate experience of business development, client and project management, preferably gained in a commercial consultancy environment.

In addition:

• Demonstrable field survey skills, including surveying UK habitats and survey and mitigation design for protected species.
• Demonstrable competence in project management, planning work in line with health and safety procedures, budget management and technical report preparation.
• A track record in project winning, delivery and management.
• Work experience within a range of sectors including residential/mixed use, infrastructure, minerals and waste, and energy.
• Relevant degree level qualification plus appropriate level of membership of CIEEM or equivalent
• Full UK driving licence
