Main Purpose of Job: To take the lead on all things finance
Main Responsibilities:
• Prepare and present regular and timely financial reports for the CEO, staff and Trustees and prepare and present Pete’s Dragons annual budget showing performance against agreed business plans and budgets.
• Review, manage and develop all financial management policies, procedures and systems of the charity.
• Support the Chief Executive and work with external advisors as necessary in the preparation of annual financial statements and draft the Report of the Members of the Board of Trustees in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) for accounting and reporting by charities in preparation for audit, approval by Trustees and presentation to members at the AGM.
• Ensure that systems and reports required by funders are produced in the required format and timescales.
• Provide accounting services for use by managers in planning and controlling the work of Pete’s Dragons. This includes financial accounting, management accounting, forecasting, budgeting and control systems.
• Manage the Finance related ICT strategy and systems, appointing and managing contractors as appropriate.
• Oversee the purchasing and acquisition of all operating materials (e.g furniture, stationery, equipment etc) in line with budgets.
• Lead the annual insurance process which includes commercial, professional indemnity, accident, cyber security etc.
• Identify income generating and cost saving opportunities across the whole charity.
Income Generation
• Support the lead fundraiser to develop and implement a fundraising strategy. Lead and support fundraisers and be a source knowledge and guidance.
• Monitor and deliver sustained income diversification and growth.
• Work with colleagues across the charity to develop a portfolio of compelling cases for support.
• Prepare and deliver high-quality and tailored proposals for major donors, corporates, charitable trusts and others.
• Work alongside and in support of the CEO to bid for contracts as appropriate
• Regularly review all grant, contract, sales and fundraising pipelines.
Performance management
• Provide line management to direct reports, set clear expectations, coach, support and develop and hold them accountable for the performance of their operational areas.
• Champion staff wellbeing and create an environment where people want to come to work and know that their contribution is important and valued.
