Duties:
Responsible for leading a team of engineers, inspectors and project managers in the delivery of a local government contract, including inspection, maintenance, strengthening and reconstruction of structural assets.
Developing briefs, delivering and reviewing inspections, presenting feasibility studies and providing advice, assessing bridges and retaining walls.
Maintaining strategies for inspections, monitoring and assessment and communicating requirements to, mentoring and developing the team to ensure implementation to contract performance.
Creating and managing the forward works programme, preparing and monitoring OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
Reviewing tender submissions, monitoring supply chain partner and sub-contractor compliance to legislation and standards.
Review of Health and safety plans and risk assessments, carrying out the duties of Designer where required by CDM regulations.
Experience:
The successful candidates will be a Chartered Civil Engineer ( CEng MICE/MIStructE or equivalent), with experience of BCI inspections and working knowledge of Highway Structures design, maintenance and management, including codes of practice and British standards.
They will also have previous budgetary control, risk assessment and management, excellent communication, initiative and decision making skills, with the ability to prioritise workload.
Due to the duties of the role we are seeking a candidate who is based on or with a short commuting distance of the Isle of Wight.
Discounted ferry travel is available and a relocation package will be considered for right candidate.
Salary: £53-58,000 per annum, plus bonus and car/car allowance
