Post:Driving Assessment Team Therapist Grade: £30,410.70 FTE on appointment (with potential growth thereafter) Base: Cornwall Mobility, in Truro Hours of Work: Mon - Fri 9.00am until 5.00pm - up to 37.5 hrs per week - to be agreed prior to appointment Overall Job: To work in collaboration with Approved Driving Instructors to administer driving and vehicle adaptation assessments. You will also provide advice to clients on learning to drive, remaining safe on the road or returning to driving with a disability/health condition. At times you may also need to support transitions to driver retirement. To undertake passenger and vehicle access assessments with people aged across the lifespan. This may also include specialist child car seat assessments following completion of relevant training and certification. To undertake assessments for Independent Living Equipment (e.g. comfort / specialist seating, pressure care, powered mobility) as and when required. To provide advice, training, techniques and knowledge of adaptive equipment to clients, keeping abreast of the latest technology and policies available. To assist staff and clients in manual handling and postural advice to ensure optimal functioning and health and safety considerations. To work with clients with a range of medical conditions and disabilities (e.g. cognitive, mental health, learning difficulties, developmental and physical disabilities). To help develop other areas of service provision relating to driving, mobility and Cornwall Mobilitys Independent Living Service. To promote Cornwall Mobility to outside agencies, health care professions and the general public. To provide support and supervision to students on clinical placements. Accountable To: Clinical Lead Principal Relationships: Lead Approved Driving Instructor Clinical Team Approved Driving Instructors Transport Hub Worker Independent Living Team Liaise with other staff as required. Principal Duties: Conduct assessments and make recommendations for appropriate equipment, modifications and compensatory techniques. To provide professional consultancy support to all departments as required. To promote the services of the organisation. Ensure assessments are carried out in accordance with Cornwall Mobility and Driving Mobility policies and standards. Assist in the monitoring and future development of the service. Ensure accurate and legible records of all client-related interventions are maintained Maintain confidentiality of all reports and information concerning clients that may be known or acquired in the course of the work. Utilise IT systems to improve efficiency of the service. Travel between locations where services are required. To perform any other duties which may be reasonably required by the Manager. Other: To develop, follow and promote safe working practices and to comply at all times with the Health and Safety at Work Act, Manual Handling Operations Regulations, Cornwall Mobility and Driving Mobility Policies, Procedures and Bye Laws. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction. The above job description may be subject to a periodic review. It is essential for our Assessment Team Therapists to begin the Driving and Outdoor Mobility Professional Certificate or Post Graduate Certificate within 2 years of starting the job. You then have 3 years to complete it. We will fund this qualification for you although you will be expected to complete some of the study in your own time. The qualification can be used as credits towards qualifications including Masters level study. Probationary Period: The first three months in post will be regarded as a probationary period during which time the postholders suitability for the position will be assessed.
