WHAT YOULL DOThe role will include practicing at an advanced level to provide in-depth knowledge on the care pathway and complex needs of patients with breast cancer and will include working clinically with patients and carers from the time of referral to provide specialist nursing advice and practical and psychosocial support including Holistic Assessment and a Personalised care plan. The service is based in the acute hospital trust during core hours Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays. Someone who has previous experience of working in a busy environment as an Staff Nurse is essential. If you have experience in Gynaecology procedures or Women's Health this would be desirable. We would like someone who is flexible with shift patterns within our clinic templates. Someone who likes to work in an often fast paced environment but is happy to take their initiative when clinics are quiet. Venesection is desirable Experience of mentoring or teaching junior staff and students is desirable We currently operate Monday to Friday between 0800 and 1730 (possibility of weekend work). Shift patterns are usually 0900 - 1700, 0900-1300 or 1300 - 1700. These can vary dependant on clinics. There is also day to day tasks to help with the overall running of the department. For example, checking of stock, departmental cleaning and preparing paperwork for the clinics ahead. An important part of this role is supporting patients through their journey within the department. Ensuring patient dignity and being supportive throughout their appointment and procedures. This can be challenging at times as we have women who will get a cancer diagnosis or have a pregnancy loss and therefore need extra care and support.

The post holder will work as part of the Dental Nurse Team. The Dental Nurse will ensure patients and carers are received in a calm, courteous and reassuring manner and prepares them to undergo treatment. The Dental Nurse will assist the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Professional and Technical skills and assists members of the multidisciplinary team in the supervision of the patient until they are fit to leave the department. All members of the Dental Nurse team are expected to take on additional link roles to support the close team. These can include Moving & Handling, Fire or Dementia Link. The role requires the post holder to be flexible but the working pattern required is a follows: Monday 08.00 - 14.00 (6hrs), Tuesday 08.00 - 13.00 (5hrs), Wednesday 08.00 - 17.00 (8hrs), Thursday 08.00 - 13.00 (5hrs), Friday 08.00 - 14.00 (6hrs).
