We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated health and safety professional with effective organisational and interpersonal skills to join our People & OD service.
You will provide an efficient, effective, and comprehensive health and safety service to a range of council services, joint boards, and agencies aswell as a full range of professional advice and guidance on areas such as health and safety management systems, employee welfare and well-being, analysis and preparation of reports and statistical returns as appropriate.
It is essential that you possess a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and be working towards chartered membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent professional body.
Relevant operational experience in a health and safety environment ideally within a multi- disciplinary environment, preparation, and participation in and delivery of health and safety training courses to IOSH or other accrediting body standards and experience in investigation of accidents and incidents and recommending appropriate preventative measures are also essential.
You must have experience of construction health and safety, preparation and undertaking of health and safety audits and inspections, a clear understanding of the current health and safety issues and legislation impacting on employers and experience in developing policies and procedures within a large organisation.
It is essential you are able to demonstrate you have effective communication skills including the ability to respond to enquiries effectively and efficiently, provide advice and guidance on health and safety matters to managers and employees of all levels.
You must be Computer literate, including the use of Microsoft applications, be able to work on your own initiative and have flexibility to cover events out-with normal hours and weekends.
Possession of a full driving licence is essential.
Relevant operational experience within local authority or large organisation, experience of event health and safety management and knowledge of effective health and safety management systems is desirable.
