The primary duties of the Nursing Assistant may vary by assignment. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

The Lead AMSA is responsible for the coordination of AMSA assignments and workflow found in the Care in the Community (CITC) unit. The Lead assists the unit with complex and non-standard procedures, including clinical flow processes related to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or community resources. Incumbent intervenes to resolve difficult problems and diffuses potential dissatisfaction with VA services. Serves as technical advisor and liaison with contacts at all levels. Incumbent must be thoroughly versed in and be able to explain complex regulations and eligibility criteria concerning veteran entitlements and VA benefits, priorities for care, access to care and advanced clinic access. Incumbent plays a significant role in determining the perceptions veterans have concerning quality of VA services and of their individual treatment by VA health care providers. Duties involve diseases of the male and female urinary tract systems, kidneys, adrenal glands, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra, and the male reproductive organs (testes, epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles, prostate and penis).
