The post holders will work within the Medicine specialties, in particular, Acute Medicine and Geriatrics. The trust encourages staff to work as a team with other colleagues and take full part in the work. The appointee will take part in the on-call rota, either at Calderdale or Huddersfield depending on service requirements and prior discussion.
Senior Trust Drs are expected to provide professional supervision and development of all Junior Doctors, Physician Associates and ACPs with the general clinical management of our patients attending the hospital.
Senior Dr participate in the day-to-day training of junior medical staff and with all other training/teaching activities facilitated by the division. All are expected to comply with Trust’s policies and to maintain their skills and knowledge through CPD.
The current on call rota is based on a 1 in 15 rota. When on-call you will be overseeing the management of acute admissions along with supporting the wards should it be required. The oncall team is made of registrar (ST3+) doctors, SHOs, FY1 and physician associates. There is also a team of nurses to manage catheters, cannulas, ECGs, IV fluids and some prescribing.
