The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a registered professional nurse that will serve as an assistant with line authority to the unit Nurse Manager in providing leadership, supervision, and direction to nursing staff. Performs delegated duties, i.e., develops time schedules, completes performance evaluations, and initiates or recommends disciplinary actions, responsible for performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient and employee safety, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards.
Duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units.
- The ANM engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. They adhere to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels.
- Equip staff with tools for culturally competent care and promotes a culture of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.
- Cultivate alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence.
- The ANM contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
- The ANM maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Communication and interaction appropriately and courteously with all internal and external customers.
- Applies the nursing process or processes at the unit/team/work group level to improve patient care.
- Provides a full range of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process.
- Promotes discharge planning and continuity of care through developing an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care in collaboration with the patient family and health care team.
- Practices in a nonjudgmental, discriminatory manner and is sensitive to diversity.
- Participates in educational activities to improve clinical knowledge and skills to maintain expertise and enhance role performance in area of practice.
- Demonstrates positive effective communication skills and professional behaviors that promote cooperation and teamwork with internal and external customers.
- Initiates and or participates in quality improvement activities that result in approved outcomes.
Work Schedule: Full Time
Tour of Duty: Evening/night; rotating every other weekend and holidays
