Summary of the role



The Business Development Manager role leads on the development of collaborations with industry, organisations and government partners within the BioPharma sector. The post holder will support the Sector Head to deliver opportunities for partnership development and impact in line with Exeter Innovation’s Business Engagement Strategy and the University’s Strategy 2030.



The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities to deliver in the role:



Identify, develop and manage opportunities for income generation from internal and external sources towards the institutional target of £200m in 2030, limiting exposure to risk and maximizing benefits to the University.
Develop detailed market research and insights using specialised data bases, analysis of market trends, government strategy and by networking with external advisors, specialists, consultants, potential customers and competitors.
Develop sustainable partnerships with new and established partners with a view to these partners collaborating and/or funding projects with academics across the research and commercial education portfolios.
Management of up to 7 people. May be responsible for supervising associated resources that form part of flexible, cross-university sectoral teams.
Provide the Exeter Innovation interface with one or more Faculty departments. Work closely with Department Directors of Business Engagement and to develop and deliver the BEI strategy and income targets embedded within Faculty plans.
Undertake the role of relationship manager for one or more Strategic Partners, working with the Corporate Partnership team. In addition, identify and liaise with internal and external sector facing networks and organisations
Support a portfolio of Impact Case Studies aligned to sector specialism, through working closely with the academic leads and Research Services.
Advise and lead on the development of applications for economic development, knowledge exchange research and innovation and commercial education; working with colleagues in Exeter Innovation and other Professional Services.
Development of complex costings (and pricing where appropriate) of projects ranging from £10k - £3MM+ using the systems and resources available in the Division.

More detail about the role: The post-holder will be supported to develop into a role where they are responsible for providing specialist clinical expertise to the Wheelchair and Specialist Seating service based at Exeter Mobility Centre (EMC). The wheelchair service has the unique role of treating both adults and children with a wide variety of medical conditions. Covering patients with acute and long-term conditions. You will see adults and paediatrics within the Centre in Exeter and at other locations as necessary e.g. satellite clinics, schools, secure units etc across Devon and Torbay. The post-holder will assess and treat patients with complex postural conditions to provide an appropriate means of mobility and use clinical reasoning to formulate individualised plans. They will triage referrals and ensure caseloads are managed within the contractual timeframes and within budget. Service criteria and the formulary of equipment must be adhered to. Our team ethos is to allow the individuals within our team to thrive and grow as Clinicians. Beyond the clinical opportunities, there are a wide range of opportunities for development including supervision of students. We have an established in-service training programme, with opportunities to attend and present any specialist topics based on your clinical interests. In order to broaden our knowledge and skills we also regularly invite outside speakers to in service training sessions. We encourage joint learning through our supportive reviews of case studies of complex patients, and are supportive of individual learning opportunities that are relevant to the patient groups we serve. Academy Health and Wellbeing Physiologist

Starting Salary £25,000 per annum
40 hours per week

In this entry role to our Physiology department, you'll make a difference, not just a living. We're transforming healthcare in the UK by bringing together assessment, treatment and prevention services to provide integrated care.

As an Academy Physiologist, you'll bring a minimum 2:2 Sport and Exercise Science degree or equivalent. You've studied human physiology, exercise, biochemistry, anatomy/biomechanics, psychology and nutrition. Crucially, you know how to apply this in practice.

Whilst you will have a base location all our Academy Physiology roles are mobile, so you will be required to travel within the region of your base site.

Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital.

The Exeter Nuffield hospital is based next to the RD&E hospital in Wonford, Exeter. Exeter is a vibrant cathedral city in the heart of the beautiful county of Devon, situated on the river exe and only 10 miles from the coast. The hospital has 2 theatres, as well as a hybrid cardiac catheter laboratory/theatre and an Endoscopy suite. There are two ward areas: an inpatient area with 21 beds and a day-case ward with 12 beds. We also have an on-site Pathology department as well as a busy outpatient department, health assessment service, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and radiology department including an MRI scanner.

Successful candidates will be expected to attend a training camp, which is scheduled for February 2025.
