Job Summary:
Tanglin is seeking to employ a motivated, caring nurse to join our established Tanglin Nursing Team. The team provides an outstanding level of care for both pupils and staff and is an integral part of supporting the pastoral, physical and mental health and wellbeing of students throughout their Tanglin journey. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other teams across the school to ensure the highest levels of wellbeing in the Tanglin community.
The role reports to Director of Pastoral Care through the Lead School Nurse.
Requirements:
- Register Nurse qualification
- Registered with Singapore Nursing Board
- Minimum 3 – 5 years of relevant working experience
- PC literate (MS Excel and Word)
- Familiar with caring for school aged children, knowledge of wellness and health education programmes an advantage
- Experience working in a School Clinic an advantage
- Pleasant personality with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as a good team player with good initiative
- Be willing and able to accompany students of all ages on residential school trips
Key Responsibilities
· To be professionally responsible, accountable and work with autonomy, whilst maintaining collaborative practice within nursing team.
· To provide and manage emergency medical care across the school for students, staff and visitors with a high commitment to professional caring.
· To act as a support and advocate for staff and student’s journeys through chronic and serious illness, researching and signposting to relevant external agencies as required.
· To act as an advocate, providing supportive care for students who require mental health support; liaising with families, internal multidisciplinary team alongside external agencies with the child or young person as a primary focus.
· To adhere to the Singapore Nursing Board Code of Professional Conduct. Demonstrate professional conduct, preserve clients’ rights including confidentiality and promote mutual respect amongst colleagues
· To implement and support best practice health promotion programmes for students and staff across the school, i.e., Mammobus, Blood drive, Pandemic Preparedness
· To represent the Nursing Team as a member of Continuing Wellbeing Services (CWS); researching, developing and leading innovative approaches to mental and physical wellbeing across the school, encompassing staff and students.
· To represent the Nursing Team at Pastoral and Safeguarding meetings as required.
· To collaborate with Lead Nurse and Heads of Life Skills on curriculum and pastoral needs, developing and delivering, specialist health education input.
· To develop, adhere and review health policies, standard operating procedures and guidelines.
· To maintain efficient communication skills within nursing team and other colleagues, documenting practice to a high standard.
· To liaise with parents, teachers and other school colleagues in a professional manner.
· To assist and support the Lead Nurse in the educational development of school nursing staff.
· To manage and operate the school staff doctors clinic in adherence with Ministry of Health Guidelines and department Standard Operating Procedures.
· To accompany day and/or residential trips (as agreed with the Lead Nurse in accordance with school trip schedule), providing quality care for the health and wellbeing of students and staff in consultation with the Trip Leader.
Professional Development
· To understand the importance of professional accountability and recognise individual responsibility for personal and professional development.
· To ensure that personal knowledge and skills meet the requirements of the post and they are in line with current evidence based practice.
· On an annual basis complete the Review and Development exercise and undertake identified development opportunities. Maintain an accurate and up to date record of all Professional Development opportunities.
Additional Responsibilities
· Respond to emergency planning, including any crisis response within the school community.
· Be responsible for reporting any concerns about a child to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
