Within the newNHS Wales Executive, newly configured National Strategic Clinical Networks are a key component of the National Clinical Framework (NCF) model. NSCN perform the central role of the knowledge-to-practice element in the Learning Health and Care System laid out in the National Clinical Framework. Their position within the Executive enables them to play a role in fulfilling the expectations set out in the Executives Mandate and Remit Letter. Strategic Clinical Networks are an essential national vehicle for joint working between key stakeholders including NHS Wales, Welsh Government and the third sector to improve the outcomes and experience for the population of Wales. Integral to this is the need for continuous improvement and transformational change across a range of our services and approaches and the role of the Strategic Clinical Network is to support this at national, regional and local levels. As a Network Support Manager, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing healthcare outcomes and transforming healthcare delivery. In this position, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction within the clinical network support teams, ensuring the efficient operation and alignment of clinical networks with organisational goals and work plans.The role will monitor and report against identified key performance indicators, using a variety of data sources. One in twelve adults in Wales reports a longstanding respiratory illness and Wales has a higher rate of asthma prevalence than the European average. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, around 15-16% of all deaths were due to respiratory disease and in 2019 Wales had the highest avoidable mortality rate in the Great Britain for diseases of the respiratory system. Respiratory medicine costs the NHS in Wales more than £400 million per year. Building on the work of the 20222022 Respiratory Conditions Quality Statement, and supporting development of future iterations, the National Strategic Clinical Network (SCN) for Respiratory Conditions will provide national leadership and drive forward change to deliver better quality, higher value, more consistent and accessible services for people affected by neurological conditions. This should take into account workforce challenges and the impact and opportunities of innovation and different ways of working. The post sits within the SCN for Respiratory Conditions and NHS Wales Executive which supports and advises Health Boards and Welsh Government in Wales. Whilst the main responsibilities will be to the new SCN for Respiratory Conditions, the post holder will be required to work flexibly to respond to the business needs of the supporting clinical reference groups and workstreams consistent to those described in this job description. The individual will work as part of a dynamic team, providing a safe and effective service which will include community vaccinations, testing and health protection support across Cardiff and Vale. Working flexible shifts at Reduce & Replace, you will diagnose and treat patients with a wide range of mental health, behavioural and emotional disorders in the role of Psychiatric Doctor.

The setting in which you are based will be wide-ranging too. As a Psychiatric Doctor you may be based in either inpatients or outpatients at Reduce & Replace, or rehabilitation environments. You may need to visit your patients in residential care, prisons, schools, or in their own homes.

The work of a Psychiatrist is always engaging and challenging, sometimes moving, occasionally frustrating but often rewarding, sometimes when this is least expected. You will frequently liaise with and learn from highly experienced colleagues in other medical fields such as general medicine, radiology, or neurology and with non-medical
colleagues including psychologists and social workers. There is always someone on hand to turn to for advice, or to chat to.
