We have a busy 6 weeks from the start of January 2025 (schedules of work to be given in December) and are looking for key people in your location. Paid training days will take place in December and paid before Christmas.

Work throughout 2025 on a project-by-project basis.

Role and Responsibilities

Pharmacy Retail Stock Assistant

Salary: £12.89 per hour inclusive of holiday pay (£11.50 per hour + £1.39 holiday pay)

Location: Newport

We are currently looking for a motivated, professional, and flexible individual able to work 5 days a week, Monday to Friday day shifts, within a small stock count team, counting our Pharmacy Clients.

In this role, you are required to accurately count stock for Retail & Asset Solutions in various high street Pharmacies, this role is extremely important to ensure pharmacies are fully stocked with the medication required for local Doctors and Hospitals.

Please note all training is provided upon your first shift.

Previous stock, audit or retail experience is advantageous but not essential.

This role will involve working unsociable hours, working early mornings or night shifts, this therefore means we are unable to hire anyone under the age of 18 years.

As a specialist rotational clinical pharmacist, you will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and attend Consultant-led ward rounds to inform and influence prescribing decisions. You will be able to do this across a range of clinical areas including our Emergency Department and Acute Assessment Unit. Other areas include General Medicine, Stroke, Care of Older People, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Mental Health, Oncology, Haematology and Hospice care. You will be supported to complete your foundation training as a pharmacist and develop your specialist skills in a range of clinical areas. This will help prepare you for future advanced-level practice. We will also provide training to support your leadership and management skills. Further to this there are also many other training opportunities with paid study leave available. The Pharmacy Team provide a core weekday service with some weekend and on-call duties which post-holders may form part of. On-call pharmacist duties are undertaken from home and calls are first screened via the Trust Clinical Site Management Team to ensure they are appropriate. Wellow Unit specialises in providing holistic care to people in their last hours to days of life within St Marys Hospital. Currently based within the Compton Ward template, Wellow Unit consists of 3 side rooms providing nurse led care. During times of increased demand, we can flex up to 6 beds depending upon the side room availability on Compton Ward. We are a nurse led team working collaboratively with the Hospital Integrated Palliative and End of Life Team (IPET) who take hospital referrals, assess, plan, and review the symptom control of those patients in our care. The unit is overseen by our Consultant Nurse. Our aim is to provide a supportive environment in which patients receive the optimal level of care and symptom control at their end of their lives, and one in which their loved ones feel able to be present and supported in the way they wish to be. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about providing respectful and compassionate end of life care. You will have high standards in relation to person centred care and be someone who can work within a small but mutually supportive team. You will be someone with good communication skills who is able to be present with others and understanding of human distress, putting people at ease during potentially difficult circumstances. As we are a small team there is a need for all staff members to be flexible with their working hours covering days, night and weekends where required.
