If so, join The Dean Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in Gloucester. You will work alongside an experienced Lead Speech and Language Therapist who will provide you with all the support you need to achieve your RCSLT NQP and Dysphagia competencies. You will develop specialist skills including the treatment of cognitive communication disorder, AAC, prolonged disorders of consciousness and tracheostomy care. As part of a developing Speech and Language Therapy service there are opportunities to implement new service initiatives in line with your interests e.g. we have implemented the first on-site FEES service within Elysium this year. Where you will be working Location: Tewkesbury Rd, Longford, Gloucester GL2 9EE The Dean Neurological Centre has 60 beds in Gloucester (GL2 9EE), which is on the outskirts of the town within easy commute from Gloucester, Cheltenham and surrounding villages. The Centre delivers specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy services for people with complex long-term neurological conditions who require ongoing support and assistance to maximise functional ability. It specialises in slow stream rehabilitation where the emphasis is placed on maximising each individual's abilities, comfort and quality of life. As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will: Manage a caseload of residents with acquired communication and/or swallowing disorders, with support from your supervisor. Lead group therapy sessions to support residents to develop their speech, language and communication skills. Have access to an on-site FEES service and referral to local Videofluoroscopy service to support with the management of dysphagia. Support with the delivery of student placements. Contribute to audits and service improvement projects. Commit to Continuous Professional Development. How we will support you: A comprehensive induction programme. Future opportunities to develop highly specialist SLT skills in the areas of tracheostomy and FEES. To be successful in this role, you’ll need: A Speech and Language Therapy qualification. HCPC, and desirably RCSLT, registration. Relevant experience of working with adults with acquired communication and/or swallowing disorders (this may include student placements). A genuine interest in neurorehabilitation and management of neuro-progressive disorders.
